BANGKOK, Jan 29 (TNA) – The Center for COVID-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) will change the pattern of COVID-19 tests in Samut Sakhon province where there are a large number of infected people because ongoing tests are costly.

CCSA spokesman Taweesilp Visanuyothin said daily new cases in the province reached three digits but they were confirmed through active case finding which was costly. Tests on 10,000 people cost 20 million baht, he cited.

CCSA instead planned cheaper antibody tests for people living in dormitories and factories that are in the same compounds. Only those who test positive will then undergo swab tests.

It is even cheaper to not test at all. No pesky positive tests then.

That didn't work out too well before, or maybe it did, depending on your stance.

As previous poster said, antibodies not normally present in enough quantity to show up until after about 14 days, and most people by then, especially asymptomatic, will not be infectious. The antibody test is used to discover possible true infection numbers at a later date as they did in Wuhan, results of mass antibody tests showed up 400-500k infections over the months later. But its a good way to get the official reported numbers down???? And they can say we are still mass testing.

Printing more currency, the Thai baht is too high anyway and printing more cash will lower the baht value. I am warning the baht is overvalued and it will hurt the exports.

Encouraging travel & slowing down testing means Covid will overrun our country. Testing needs to be widened & accelerated and may even require retesting due to the window of infection. No matter the cost!
