Never mind chomper,it is what it is,short term pain for long term gain, the price of freedom has never been cheap.

Gain?

Where?

Seriously - what exactly is the "gain" of Brexit. Still to hear something other than the sovereignty bull-<deleted>.

They did lower the tax on tampons. That apparently is a genuine gain of Brexit - cheaper tampons... Shame everything else is getting more expensive... - except fish - apparently fish dropped in price by a LOT, so long as you want to eat herring.

Hang on a minute, whatever happened to the Brexiteer repost ‘we’re out, get over it’?

  • Yet another example of how well Brexit and Boris' wonderful 'oven ready' deals aren't going!

It’s more akin to resigning from a club, giving them the ‘birdy’ on your way out the door then going groveling to be allowed membership rights.   Comedy gold.

Rather eat herring than humble pie, very nice fried with a couple of slices of crusty bread.

What exactly did they actually do with regards to the vaccine. Oh right, they got criticized and changed course. So corrupt of them to accept valid criticism.

Changed course because when it came to ordering the vaccine they cocked it up,then tried to bully and bluster the uk,when that didn,t work they bottled it,and " changed course ".

What a right Brexit mess this is.

Don,t worry about it the will of the people prevailed.

nothing to add

but we do need to pay a little respect for other members on here that might not be members of the now mighty UK community - we may have people posting here that are not from the UK - can you spot them lol

how is the Euro doing these last few of weeks - it seems to be dropping like a lead balloon - who do we blame for that

The UK lol

Sure i can spot them, they remind me of those japanese soldiers who used to turn up on uninhabited islands in the pacific  30 years after the war finished.

very cleaver and the right thing to do as the EU implodes

Brussels have lost the plot and have been exposed for what they really are

All the UK wants is trade - how simple can it be

Current day trade and the rules that govern it are anything but simple......

So asking for an extension is not eating humble pie?

It would appear that Mrs U v Leyen through her thoughtless actions has really upset the apple cart and to coin another phrase, what is good for the goose is good for the gander, a completely different ball game now.

“What is required is political, not technical solutions,” Gove said, noting how disastrous a technical solution to the vaccine wars had been for the EU when a bureaucrat invoked article 16 without regard to the political ramifications.

He implicitly warns that the UK could invoke article 16 unless its demands are met. “If it is not possible to agree a way forward in the way we propose, then the UK will consider using all instruments at its disposal.”

The average UK citizens were in prison ? Now they have their new found freedom to....visit the job center, pay higher prices, enjoy restricted freedom if working or living in Europe, have all future governments with less influence in world politics, obey their American overlords.

Have less influence?you having a giraffe?it was when cameron went over in the spring cap in hand pleading to the eu about not paying eu citizens benefits and they laughed in his face that lead to the leave vote.restricted movement if working or living in europe, who cares?if europes such a great place why have we got 2.5 million of its citizens resident in the uk?

Hospital staff (you're going to miss them) and fruit pickers, mostly Poles and Romanians Yes, working and living in the EU is far better than the UK as a person with qualifications.

A good move by Gove to give an opportunity to the EU to save face and Von Der Leyen her job before we use article 16 ourselves.

She really opened a can of worms last week with that move. What's good for the goose is good for the gander. Your move Ursula, if you ask nicely we might throw a few vaccines into the deal, we've got loads.

"Obey their American overlords" I think even by your standards that has to be classed as a tad melodramatic. ????????????

Got no problem with anyone who wants to come to the uk to work and contribute to society,if however you want to ponce sling your hook, and now we,re out the freedom of movement will be able to enact this.

Given this Brexit deal thing was meant to be ‘oven ready’.

Anybody got any ideas why 2023?

What kind of mess must it all be if the UK Government need two years to sort it out?!

With a government like the one that they've got now, It'll take a lot longer than 2 years...

You're correct, it's done more discreetly than that, in the name of 'the special relationship'....Blair sucked up to Bush and Boris sucked up Trump, he will have to purse his lips anew for Biden.

I look forward to discussing the UK/US trade deal if/when it arrives.

Here is the problem of exchanges with English, endless negotiations, shattering declarations bordering on insult, final agreement torn from the forceps at the 25th hour ...

And just after signing, request for exception, renegotiation, extension.

I hope that the EU will hold its own this time to make any modification of the agreements conditional on heavy financial compensation.

And i hope the uk holds its own on the vaccine issue and sells there surplus to the highest bidder.

Please explain to jay vaccines belong to the UK?

The UK buys it’s vaccines from pharmaceutical companies that are not owned by the UK.

Blair sucked up to bush because clinton gave blair air support during the serbian war, when bush got in bush called the favour in and demanded support for the iraqui invasion where blair told a pack of lies about weapons of mass destruction, don, tthink boris is stupid enough to put hisself in that position.

The UK has its supply contract with private businesses, it has no control at all over those businesses and the growing number of other vaccine producers supplying the EU.

The UK has a supply contract, it does not own any vaccines beyond those in hand.

If if you take your jingoism glasses off you’ll see the truth of the matter.

Alternatively, the UK does and did at is is was told.

The uk put in an order early while france dithered don,t know wording of contract but would assume it was legally binding, france put their order in and were told they would do all they reasonably do to fulfill the order , for whatever reason they couldn,t and france tried to take our supply, its always someone elses fault according to the eu.
