Sony Android tv problems with ExpressVPN

Featured Replies

I bought a 2020 model 65” Sony Android TV in March last year. And it’s been working flawlessly with The ExpressVPN app on it until I did an update early last month. After the update the tv will loose the internet when connected via LAN cable, and trying to connect to any server on ExpressVPN.

To get the internet connection up and running again I have to go into the TV settings and force stop the ExpressVPN app, and then into network settings and press “none” in proxy.

the funny part is that when I connect the TV to the internet via WiFi everything works fine.

I have both 3bb and True internet connections. Same problem on any of them.
I also tried out NordVPN, but still the same.
The reason I would prefer it to work with cabled connection is that I sometimes have problems when watching 4K content on WiFi.
I had a session with ExpressVPN customer service. But they couldn’t sort it out even trying out different settings.

Any ideas?
