Just got told today that I'll need to do the test as I graduated from the PGCEi past 2019

That really is a kick in the teeth. I chose Nottingham due to it being accepted for so many years

Is it just cos the PGSEi? Or is it anyone applying after that year?

Thanks

Hello,

I am in the same boat, I was told today that I've to complete the test to be approved for the 5 year teaching license. They said today that the test should be available January/February.

How do you know what date it will happen and does anyone have a link to apply for this test?

So far the TCT office here at my district has been going back and forth with the requirements. They've been telling teachers that though on paper they are qualified under the criteria listed on TCT's website, they're still required to get a license from their home country. Considering the situation right now back there, this aint gonna happen easily.

Some Chinese teachers I know have done the TCT test several times already, haven't got to pass it yet.

Its totally nuts.

So they are saying the only option for those Chinese teachers is to get a license in their home country first, despite meeting the Thai requirements?

What is the point in making us get Dip Ed or degrees in education and THEN make us to a test?

Seems like the test should be for people without education diploma or degree.

Thank you for this. I was actually familiar with this since there was a recent survey sent to us by HR. No follow up though and they're expecting us to go DIY.

So, should English teachers choose Teaching Profession test or English Language for Communication test?

Or do we need to choose more than one for the teaching license? I don't get it; I thought there was only one test (i.e. the Teacher's Licensure Exam).

So, here's the current schedule:

Friday 18 February 2022

09:30-11:00: the use of Thai language for communication

12:30-14:00: Using English for Communication

3:00pm-4:30pm: Using digital technology for education

Saturday 19 February 2022

9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m: teacher's profession

Can't we just take Teacher's Profession to get the license? Or do Thais teachers need to take the Thai one and English teachers need to take the English one, too?

1. A copy of a valid passport. (Only foreigners)

2. Copy of educational qualifications

3. A copy of the educational report and

4. A copy of the qualification letter for graduates of higher education from abroad from the Office of the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation

What on Earth is Document 4? For that matter, what is Document 3? lol

Get the license from your home country. Everyone else has to take the test.

It is too late to apply for these ones now. We have to wait for the next dates to be announced

I think everyone graduating in education post-2019 has to take the test now. I don't think the course matters.

Or maybe someone else knows? If you do an M.Ed are you expect from the test?

Last line really gutted me, my paperwork was ready but the situation overshadowed it lol

Did anyone here manage to get a place on this exam? My school applied but then they asked for lots of additional paperwork which I obtained within a day or two of being asked but by the time my new application was submitted it was too late for the exam. Devastated! Apparently there might be another one this year, but I doubt it.

you NEVER ever clean the whiteboard after a class, although you ALWAYS complain if a foreign teacher hasn't done so. Then instruct the class to complete the exercises on page xyz. and sit down at the teachers desk, open Facebook.

When the bell rings for the end of the lesson, tell the class to put their books away (unmarked), accept their chorus of "Thank You Teacher" and wonder away, having enlisted the assistance of the prettiest girl in the class to carry your textbook and marker pen in front of you like a temple acolyte.

I would fire you on the spot, what an attitude.

Maybe he’s a new NES who takes great pictures.   Unless you are the director, these NES teachers call the shots.   Looks is everything.   Everything.  Schools are begging for a good looking NES teacher now…."fired on the spot.”   I don’t think so.   Not for that attitude…..probably get a raise.  You can get fired if NES picture boy, but not that way.

The next test will be scheduled in February 2023. I have been told it's gonna be a once-a-year thing now. My friend failed this year's test and has decided to work in Kazachstan instead, as TCT won't give him waiver no. 5. All the other foreign test takers also failed the test.

Unless you can find employment at an international school or language institute, both of which do not ask for a teacher license, you're out of luck. It seems TCT are actively trying to drive out foreign teachers now.

Wow, cos I was told at Krusapa a month or so ago there would be two a year.

Are international schools possible to work at without a teacher license?

I know universities and language schools are possible.

At real international schools, if you meet their requirements with regards to qualifications, you will meet Khurusapa's requirements for a teacher licence.

I wonder if you get a job at an international school or university, can you still get a teacher license?

I understand it isn't necessary for that job, but for the sake of professional development and becoming a qualified teacher.

If you were teaching at a uni or international school and you passed the test could you apply for the teacher license with your valid work permit at that time?

The vast majority of proper international schools will want you to have overseas teaching qualifications (these qualifications also enable them to get the Thai teachers licence, if needed). The best ones would require work experience in their home country. Another possibility is satit schools that are attached to universities. There was a thread here about that a couple of years ago.
