Thais can now apply for a 10 year passport, following an announcement in the Royal Gazette.

The long anticipated passports, which were first announced more than a year ago, are now available for a fee of 1,500 baht.

The news about the 10 year passports came following an announcement about the new fees for anyone applying for a Thai passport.

According to a notice posted in Royal Gazette on Wednesday, the new passport fees are as follows:

3 year passport - 500 baht

5 year passport - 1,000 baht

10 year passport - 1,500 baht

Fee for issuing passport - 1,000 baht

Passport issued same day - additional 2,000 baht

LoL, why the whining? do you wish to copy the same wages too?

On a minimum wage

In Thailand, 1500 baht = 5 days salary.

In UK, the 95 gbp = 1.5 day salary

Just to put things in perspective, should make you feel lucky to be from UK ????

Indeed.... certainly no whinging, just high-lighting that in the UK the passports are a lot more.

Same Day passport in Thailand : 3500 baht /  UK:  £177 (7560 baht)

Regular passport renewal in Thailand: 1500 baht / UK: £85 (3650 baht)

One still has to book a few weeks in advance for the same service.

Now, IF one were to whinge it would be that no one can get a Passport in one day in the UK under current Covid circumstances as the all passport offices are closed to the public.

Typical of UK civil servants to provide the minimum possible service where possible (thats a whinge for you tingtong!)

Tingtong must be a mind reader.  ????

I did moan about renewal of my UK passport as they don't discount it for pensioners.

When I worked in UK not a problem but I would still consider it a high cost.

10 year is great for those who have wives in other countries and their Residence cards follow the validity of their passports,.

Just as a footnote here the UK Passport costs, not including the 18GBP for the courier

If you're one of the lucky ones left with a job these days...

Lots of whinging there Richard, and you backed up the post from Tingtong.

Tingtongs point was that it costs  4/5 times as much to get a passport in TL due to the wage difference. Which is correct.
