Abyssian Cafe Gone...where?

Featured Replies

Does anyone know what became of the Abyssian Cafe that used to be on Soi Nana and had fabulous Ethiopian food???

I am hoping it relocated rather than just closed. Was my favorite restaurant in Bkk. Plus as far as I know was the only Ethiopian restaurant in BKK??......

I saw an ' African' restaurant last week opposite the entrance to Burmungrad. Not sure what part of Africa it originated but seemed lively. Probably not much help though is it!

I tried the Ethiopian restaurant on Suk Soi 3 (Soi Nana Nua) last year. I think it was pretty authentic because the brown crepe things were pretty hard to take (first time for me). Walk up Soi 3 on the right about 100 - 200 metres.

once i entered an "abyssmal" cafe but i didn't like the clientele hanging around... so i left.

That's the one I mean, and yes it was completely authentic, the injera (the crepe-like bread) was flown in daily from Addis Ababa.

The cook was Ethiopian and the food was absolutely superb, if you like Ethiopian cuisine. Used to be one of the highlights o every trip to Bangkok.

Problem is, the restaurant has vanished, replaced by some Egyptian shop. :o Anyone know what happened/if they relocated somewhere?
