Hello, there must be some one in the Pattaya area that would like to join me in a backgammon game or if you know of anyone else. Any level. PLEASE contact me on here to arrange venue and any other information you may require. Many thanks, Sam.

Have a look at this 2016 thread

It seems the local backgammon scene has quietly faded away. I found references to games being played at BG House and Restaurant (https://www.google.co.th/maps/place/BG+House+%26+Restaurant/@12.9045767,100.8720379,17z/data=!4m5!3m4!1s0x31029660c2c5c687:0xef2f7b543a63e860!8m2!3d12.9047283!4d100.8696883?hl=en)
on Thepprasit Road 4 years ago and another older reference to games at the Somboon's Restaurant - Dongtaan Beach though I don't know if it's still there.

(And no, I don't play.)

Sorry, I am not in Thailand... will get there when I can.

Meanwhile, have you tried Backgammon NJ?

It's an Android program, free, a very strong player and doesn't cheat.

A cheap add-on does game analysis,

The cops did a big crackdown on "gambling" a couple years ago and even raided some "Bridge" clubs. They (the cops) claimed that any gambling was illegal, including things like Darts and Bridge (and Backgammon  no doubt, which has a gambling feature as anyone who ever watched Octopussy would know).

One thing you could do would be to put a notice in Pattaya People and Pattaya Mail, maybe in the "Events" section (and in the Events forum here: https://forum.thaivisa.com/forum/202-pattaya-events-offers/) and try to "restart" a league by hosting a meeting/tournament at a centrally located site.

I wouldn't expect dozens to show up the first time but you may get a couple people, who might know a couple other people (and so on and so on).

It might take a couple tries (hosting a meeting once a month somewhere) as the many people won't see the notices or hear about any meetings right away.

I would suggest keeping it low key and enforcing a "no betting" rule as well (certainly not for money at least). Otherwise you may get noticed by the wrong people.
