BANGKOK, March 16 (TNA) – The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration plans to inoculate people in Bang Khae district against COVID-19 to contain the disease there as soon as possible.

Question is, Will they vaccinate the foreigners and expats as well or only Thai's and their family's.

While any vaccination program is to be applauded, the WHO earlier reported that it takes about 2 weeks for the vaccine to have any effect. A second dosage is required 4-12 weeks later to improve the efficacy of the vaccine. Also the vaccine does not guarantee  someone won't continue to host host and spread the virus. Nor is the vaccine a one-off that will last forever. The key to ending COVID-19 is a worldwide vaccination program that works in tandem across the globe. It's all very well countries like Israel, the UK and the USA boasting of their speedy vaccination programs, but the world will still be far away from eradicating future outbreaks unless countries like Thailand expedite their vaccination program.

COVID has an excellent chance of remaining a global problem throughout 2021, and long into the future unless countries find a more unified way of expediting the vaccination program. Also, people should expect that the vaccination program is not a one-off.
