60 Day COVID extension questions

Featured Replies

I have an O visa that I cannot renew that expires on April 11 so intend to get the COVID extension, before the March 30 cut-off.

1. I have seen two forms, a STM2 and an Affadavit (both attached below), which do I need to complete?

2. As a Brit, do I just give the reason for the extension as COVID and leave it as that, and I will get the extension without questions?

3. As I am travelling a lot I am staying in hotels. What doI need to provide as address registration? Would my current hotel booking confirmation suffice?

Any advice is greatly appreciated ????

1. Both will be done and maybe one for the overstay rules. They will give you the forms when you apply for the extension.

2. You have to tick at least one of the reasons for needing the covid 19 extension on the affidavit.

3. You will probably be asked for a completed TM30 form to report your address.

OK thanks.

1. So i need to complete both forms, which I will do in advance, and the overstay forms they give me?

2. I dont have a reason as I am just not ready to return home yet! I think the UK embassy doesnt privide letters so guess I will tick that box, any thoughts? I can fly back but flights are limited...

3. Hotel has submitted TM30 by post and will give me a copy of their letter so II gueess that should suffice?

The affidavit is mostly a formality. Just tick the boxes that fit your situation.

As always it varies, but at the Samui branch I saw multiple people ahead of me in the queue getting turned away because they had not provided enough 'reasons' in the text box. The officer was telling them they need to give more convincing reasons why they can't return to their country.

As for the check boxes, I don't think they matter, but just tick whatever is honestly correct. For embassy letter, I have an old one from the UK, but they refused to take any embassy letters with the application anyway.

Don't just write 'covid' as I suppose it's a little bit disrespectful really. Just put it in a full sentence like 'the covid-19 pandemic is still severe in my home country'.

I have experience of 2 immigration offices recently and for both you don't need to bring any document for your TM30 as they checked on their computer and they could see the TM30 report in their system.

It can go either way I guess. In the first rounds at Bangkok I was seeing people do that, and officers were telling them to cross it all out and literally write the word 'COVID'. And on the other hand, nowadays I've seen the example sheet they have in some offices still has the word 'COVID', despite officers there telling people to cross out COVID and put something more substantial. There really is no knowing, haha.

I had similar experiences (though Chiang Mai required to bring a 'receipt of notification' for the TM30 from a nearby office). However now that the TM30 online system is down, I expect one of two things, which may differ between offices: (a) They relax the TM30 checks (b) They require you to bring the paper TM30 forms from your landlord.

Just a thought, do you have to present the forms printed double-sided asI think that TM7 is at CW, or does it not matter?

Does anyone have any experience or knowledge of this, as I could imagine its only a little thing but might be a problem with the wrong IO being over picky....:)

A TM7 form must be printed two sided.

Oh ok, and the TM47 and Affadavit also?

A TM47 form only has one side. Two sided for affidavit would be best.

Is the TM30 online system down? I thought it was just the 90 day reporting that was affected.
