Sorry, too many typos. I definitely opened a bank account at Krungsri with both passports in hand. I just had to explain the situation and it was no problem.

Many threads about this previously.  Because the Rabbit Card can be topped up and spent in many places it falls under an anti money laundering rule and needs to be registered to a person.  Hence the p

  • No, it's not. When the first uniformed clerk wanted the bank book she called her superior to explain in better English.  The superior was the one who explained about cancellation of visa, that ev

  • I sat waiting for 2 hrs to do the same thing. Then lunch time came and I left. Asked myself why on earth do I need to transfer the stamps. Answer: no reason at all. Solution: just carry both passports

In fact they asked for my passport only once.

When I bought my BTS Rabbit card, it could be bought anonymously, so they didn' ask for my passport. They changed their rules later (there was an annoucement at BTS stations) and when they did it, they asked only once for my passport but after that first identification they never asked for it again.

Thai people must show their ID too when they first buy their rabbit card, but not when the top it up.

Are they willing to accept a pic of your passport rather than the real thing?  I always have a pic in my phone which has got me through at least some such situations.

Perhaps her previous job was Nonthaburi immigration.

I'm new here, does Nonthaburi have some sort of reputation?  I did my one year extension there, first time ever visiting an immigration office. Aside from of officiousness they seemed fine.

Personally have never dealt with Nonthaburi  but it's sometimes mentioned in negative way. Think it sometimes depends on what type of extension in some offices. I use retirement money in bank. Clearly a more simple option than say marriage using perhaps income method.
