NO ! It was the fault of uneducated , non caring , stupid parents who did not hide a loaded gun away from young kids .

No cure for stupidity .

No!  One does not HIDE firearms from children, one locks them in a safe or other metal locker.  Children will find everything that is hidden, so the only secure method is to lock them up.  And why was it loaded?  .22lr is a target & small game round, there is no reason to leave a .22 rifle loaded inside a home, especially one with children.

That the kid found the gun and thought that it was not real implicates that the kid did not load it himself and that it was already loaded ... Rifle or gun , does it matter ? The sad result is the same .

..it matters a lot..called 'false reporting'..it would also imply 'intention'...RIP young boy.

I never heard of an unloaded gun going off.

..it is very relevant and important to know if the boy loaded the rifle, or found it and not checked it...RIP young boy.

Do you believe that the 11 year old was capable of loading the rifle?

It is highly likely the rifle was left loaded. This is how they do it.

..young rural boys here are quite experienced with firearms at a very young age..just ask about.

It is highly likely the rifle was left loaded...but if he loaded it, that would make it an entirely different and far more serious matter....RIP young boy.

Difficult to change a typo when the edit button does not work.

Then read what you have typed, correct any tpyo before you hit the SUMBIT button.

Edit works fine on my W10 destop version

Don't you just love guns........we all should have a gun....guns are wonderful....guns are fun......I assume the gun lobby will be on soon saying this accident was nothing whatsoever to do with the gun.......it is an inanimate object....how could it be the cause of a Childs death?

...I cannot see anywhere in the OPs article that the 'rifle' (not a gun) was loaded. Are you adding this yourself, or are you quoting from another article..if so please post the link.

How do you think the 5 year old boy was killed by the rifle?
