webfact Posted April 3, 2021 Posted April 3, 2021 Photo: AoT Phuket By The Phuket News PHUKET: The first tourists to arrive in Phuket under the reduced mandatory quarantine introduced on Thursday landed at Phuket International Airport just after 6:30am today (Apr 3). Passengers on board the Thai Airways flight TG921 Airbus A359 direct flight from Frankfurt were welcomed to Phuket by senior airport management then escorted to the clearing procedures to be allowed onto the island. The arrivals are being heralded as the first sign of hope of tourists returning to Phuket. Non Klintha, Executive Vice President of Thai Airways International, earlier this week revealed that the airline is opening two direct flights from Frankfurt to Phuket in April and May. From the pictures in the Phuketnews article really looks like a "manageable number" ???? I still doubt that this these are "normal/2 weeks" tourists. More like long stay/residents.

Following an article in a Thai source (prachachat.net) it was 16(!) passengers for Phuket. pj123 Posted April 5, 2021 Posted April 5, 2021 The new rules from 1 July that allow tourists to avoid quarantine in Phuket. I guess this only works for tourists who arrive on direct international flights into Phuket. In the past, what percentage of foreign tourists arrived on direct international flights?
