Popular Post webfact
Dr. Opas Karnkavinpong, director-general of the Disease Control Department Bangkok, and its four neighbouring provinces of Pathum Thani, Nonthaburi, Samut Prakan and Nakhon Pathom, are likely to be declared COVID-19 Red zones, under which stricter measures will be imposed, such as all eateries closing at 9pm and being banned from consumption or sale of alcohol. These measures were proposed by the Emergency Operations Centre and a committee of disease control experts at a meeting today, called to assess the pandemic situation in Bangkok and its peripherals, following the emergence of new clusters linked to entertainment venues Thonglor and Ekamai areas, and in Pathum Thani. The measure will be proposed to the CCSA subcommittee for consideration on Wednesday. I think it's 'encouraging people to travel' with these government incentives he's introduced.

Aeronautical Radio of Thailand (Aerothai) estimates that some 8,754 local flights or an average of 1,250 flights daily will operate during the April 10-16 Songkran break https://www.nationthailand.com/news/30404546 4
Popular Post Wiggy
I guess even more people will leave Bangkok at Songkran now, potentially spreading the virus quicker and further afield. We are going to have to, at some point,, learn to live with this virus. Once the vaccine program is established (as it is for flu) then we can live with it the same as we do with flu. 15

It was the loonies that believed the entertainment venues would take all necessary precautions when they were allowed to open up.. clearly that didn't happen. In the same mind-sett the PM and health authorities people will travel and behave themselves during the long Songkran free-for-all. As for entertainment venues... reap what you sow. 4

Locking down doesn't help, unless it's a Wuhan-style total lockdown.
AlfHuy
Seems a bit strange. Just in time of next public holiday week, a new cluster found and closing venues. I was told that a few international schools also have covid cases. Haven't read this in the news.

St. Andrews International primary school campus on Sukhumvit 71 is closed as a precaution as 2 parents (not children) have tested positive. Direct information from the school (my son goes to the high school campus at Ekamai, which is still open until Friday when the current term ends). My girlfriend told me she saw it on the Thai news yesterday also.

Popular Post SupermarineS6B
Laughable...... It's like watching a circus act with seals and hoops....... It's strange how April and May are always fighting months in Thailand and once again the virus is implimented just like last year to lock em in ! Better than bullets this one.......... Obviously Burma should be given a dose of this stuff....... Bullets are not working up there...... The question is....... When will the people say, No More !

Popular Post Stargeezr
Most people do not get flu shots for the normal flu because it does not kill them like this corona virus, or covid 19 virus does. To be clear it is not at all like a normal flu. Maybe it has to be like Ebola for the simpletons to actually understand that fact. Most people I know are being very cautious until they get both of their vaccines, and I wish them all well. As for the anti vaxxers and anti maskers, I do not have as much sympathy for. If they die before their turn to get a shot, and especially if they refuse their chance, well som nom nah. One of my cousins was one of these people and being in the mid thirties, he got infected and died. I will be happy when all countries have gotten their populations vaccinated. David T Pike
Freaking great! What next? First Philippines Airlines cancels our April 7th flight from Manila to Bangkok, get put on a waiting list for the 14th and still no seats and they cancel 100s more flights. Thank God we found 2 business class seats left on a Thai Airlines repatriation flight on the 22nd. Coach was packed full. We had to change many reservations, transportation bookings, COE date, ASQ date and on and on and on... Now just so happens our ASQ is in Thonglor out of all places in Bangkok! I pray this doesn't screw us up again! Just when we went from 15 days ASQ to 11. Getting a 10,000 baht refund and were going to be able to get outside food delivered... I bet that perk is yanked now... When it rains it pours.... But I will persevere. Anything to get me out of the PI to Thailand... :) 1
wensiensheng
The logical sequence in a pandemic is : 1. establish some form of virus control through distancing, testing, tracing, masks, lockdowns and the like, all while finding a vaccine. 2. once a vaccine is found, vaccinate up to herd immunity ASAP. 3. repeal the social measures established in 1. above. carrying out step 3 before step 2 inevitably leads to outbreaks as sure as having unprotected sex leads to pregnancies. I don’t know why government after government spends as much time if not more working on relaxing step 1 measures, as they do working on implementing step 2. It just leads to a loop of restrictions, relaxation, more restrictions. The vaccine is the key, it’s all I want to hear about. Everything else is just noise.
