Thailand reports 405 new COVID-19 cases on Thursday

Just got both an e-mail and a Line message from BNH Hospital in Sathon, BKK.  The message indicates that they are sorry but they have run out of Covid 19 tests.  It says: " BNH Hospital is currently unable to provide Covid-19 Screening test due to shortage of the Covid-19 testing kits"  "We apologize for any inconvenience and we will keep you updated as to when we will be able to test again".

 

If this has played out throughout Bangkok then it appears we are headed for a rough ride.  Time for those field hospitals the BMA is dawdling about setting up.

Did you get anything from them about their likelihood or timing of making available imported vaccines?

No mention of it as of yet.  2 weeks ago they did an e-mail survey and line survey for those that are registered at the hospital to gauge the need for a vaccination.

All I can say is it makes sense, but that's Ramkhamhaeng Hospital, but then again It has begun, and I wish this government would pull their heads out.  They appeared to be on-top of it, not in control, but none the less appeared to be keeping it in check.  Unfortunately looks can be deceiving.

 

Do you have a link to a news source indicating all of the hospitals have canceled testing because they are all full.  I saw a twitter grab, but then I am watching the news and have heard nothing to verify this.

Notice that Covid+ in hospitals has gone up about 600 just in the last week, from fewer that 1,500 to more than 2,100 today.

Now that, my friends, is entertainment!

As the OP notes, 450 Covid+ extrapolated with testing would be 6,682 new infections per day. Plus exponential growth.

AFAIK, Ramkhamhaeng Hospital had been offering drive-thru COVID testing, and supposedly got a lot of testing referrals from the recent/ongoing Thong Lo/Ekamai entertainment venues outbreak. That probably contributed to them running out of COVID beds.

Re vaccines, been hearing this from the government for a while now.... but no visible signs of actual progress thus far.

Add a zero or two to the end of all numbers to get a correct count. The quarantine as I predicted turned out to be a complete failure and only the most desperate stupid foreigners coughed up thousands of dollars to become another member of the scam. The bars should have been shut down over a year ago and stayed closed. But once again $$$ took control of their greedy brains and now thousands are about to become ill and die. Good going Thailand! Looks like Phyathai I Hospital can be added to the list of those hospitals above that have stopped doing COVID tests (though their post doesn't say why or mention the bed capacity issue). Their Facebook post from earlier today:

This Thai PBS report from today doesn't name any hospitals by name, but it clearly paints of picture of it becoming increasingly difficult to find a hospital willing to do COVID tests in Bangkok right now.

There was a long TH language briefing Thursday afternoon by two Thai officials involved in the country's vaccine efforts. I haven't seen much in the way of EN language news media accounts of that as yet. But the Ministry of Public Health did do a TH language news release that Google can translate, with the following excerpts:

 

--AstraZeneca vaccine made in Thailand is undergoing quality certification. Deliveries are expected this June...

 

--Nakorn Premsri, director of the National Vaccine Institute, said that AstraZeneca's production of the vaccine against COVID-19 Siam Bioscience Company Limited performed well. There is a production cycle of 2 thousand liters. The vaccine samples are being submitted for quality inspection in AstraZeneca's reference laboratories in Scotland and the United States. The vaccine quality test results are expected to be graded back in mid-April.

 

--The next one million doses of Sinovac's vaccine will be delivered on April 10. Once quality is checked, the vaccine will be distributed in accordance with the approval of the Covid 19 Vaccination Administration Subcommittee, which may be modified.

 

And regarding the blood clotting issue with the AZ vaccine in Europe:

--The rates of 2-4 per million injections were mostly after the first dose of the vaccine. But thromboembolism occurs in very few Thai people. Therefore, there is no suggestion to discontinue vaccination, however, we will continue to collect information on whether this is relevant.
