Minimum passport validity to apply work permit

Featured Replies

Is there any minimum passport validity to apply a new work permit like 6 months, 12 moths, etc?

Thanks in advance

There is no minimum passport validity to apply for a work permit at the Labor Ministry.

To apply for a extension of stay at immigration your passport must be valid for the length of the extension or it will only be issued to the day it expires.

You are correct Ubonjoe. That is exactly what happened with my daughter. Her visa expired on the last day her passport was valid.

I seriously doubt if the Labor Department would issue a work permit that is valid beyond the expiry date of your passport.

Do you also doubt they would issue a work permit that is valid beyond the expiry of your driving license or rental contract? When applying for a work permit, the passport is a required form of identification. That is all. The work permit, by itself, does not give you any permission to be in Thailand. The duration of your permission to stay is determined by immigration, and the Labour Department does not care if the work permit is sometimes unusable because you are outside Thailand.
