You can apply for a 90 day non-o visa with a visa exempt entry or the 30 day extension of it if you qualify for certain extension of stay.

What would be the basis for your non-o visa.

If I enter on a 60 day tourist visa issued by the Thai Consulate in Sydney can I convert to Non-Imm O based on marriage.

From the Sydney Consulate website,

  • TR cannot be changed to any other type of visa during the duration of stay in Thailand.

is this correct?

That is not correct. Only the special tourist visa (STV) has that rule.

From the the top of the non-o requirements posted earlier.

Quick question regarding applying for a 90 day non-o visa with a visa exempt entry, on basis of marriage.

I realise 400,000B needs to be in account only on day of application, what about house photos and police visit  ?

I'm only talking about change of visa type not extension.

How to understand the below requirement of having rental receipts of the PAST 3 months when converting from a 45 days visa on arrival?

Is this after converting to the 90 days Non-O or only when renewing past extensions?

A visa on arrival only allows 15 day entry and they are not being issued at this time. You will get a 45 day visa exempt entry that can be extended for 30 days.

I am not sure they enforce that at every office when applying for a non-o visa. I think something may of gotten lost in translation. I think Bangkok immigration put that in their requirements to keep people that do not live in Bangkok from applying there.

If you have proof you are staying in Bangkok and a rental agreement for at least 3 months it will be accepted.

Thanks for your quick reply Joe.

Yes, arriving on the 45 days visa except entry that they are issuing at the moment. Of course not the old visa on arrival, my bad,  I worded it wrong.

Do I understand it correct?

1. Arrive on the 45 days visa

2. Convert to 90 days Non-O

3. Apply for the retirement extension.

The individual already have the 800k seasoned and the rental agreement should be a non-issue.

The 15 day visa on arrival is only issued to those from about 21 countries. I am sure you do not qualify for one. I often wonder how many people have lined up for a visa on arrival and have told they were in the wrong line since they qualify for a visa exempt entry.

1. If needed you can apply for a 30 day extension to get more time if need to apply for the visa to meet the 15 days before requirement.

2. You would apply for a non immigrant visa using a TM87 form. It is not really a conversion or a change of visa status that is done for tourist or transit visa entry using a TM86 form.

3. Yes during the last 30 days of the 90 day entry from the visa.
