How convenient to have always a specific group to blame any outbreak on. Migrants, casino workers, now partying youngsters. How does the transport minister fit in?

He is Thai so hence can not be blamed for anything as it is always somebody else's fault.

There’s also this in case you missed it ....

“Japan's ambassador to Thailand, Kazuya Nashida, on Friday informed the Centre of Economic Situation Administration (CESA) that he had been diagnosed with Covid-19”

“news source revealed that Nashida had earlier admitted to a Japanese reporter that on March 25, he had been to Krystal Club Thong Lor”

He's 60, born in 1960!

It was his staff that infected him he claims.  Not sure if he was deep French kissing them in the office or at the club.

So does this mean the upmarket scene in Thong Lor and their affluent regulars are not to blame?

Of course not they are hisos and high ranking members of the government and their Mia noi's. These are the same idiots that should have canceled Songkran and travel

People aged under 30 help caused the spike in COVID-19 cases Thailand is currently experiencing.

According to Department of Disease Control (DDC) chief Dr Opas Karnkawinpong, people aged between 20-29 who have active social lives and were in contact with lots of other people sparked the latest wave of infections.

Dr Opas also  said that increasingly members of entire families are becoming infected.

I would agree that people under 30 probably had an input into the Covid hot-spots being created; this is generally the age group of those that enjoy partying. But to blame this group for the spike, is that correct?

It seems that some sort of deflection of blame is taking place here. It was not the under 30's that not only permitted Songkran travel but openly encouraged it, dispite the fact that the hot-spots were appearing all over the place (in containable areas).

So, IMHO, those that are pointing fingers & stating facts about a certain age group being responsible for the spike should take themselves into a dark room and have a serious conversation with themselves about who allowed the spread from containable areas to the rest of the kingdom.

When I read advice, from government, that those that have travelled to their original homes should stay there and work from that location, rather than travel back to their places of employment, says to me that someone has realized their mistakes and are now clutching at straws.

Thailand will always find first excuses. 2nd a scapegoat. 3rd a hair brained solution.

Just wait until ultimately the farangs are ordered to be mass tested and immigration start turning up at the farangs registered address with test kits and the obligatory photo ops.

Let them come as long as they don't try to tattoo a number or bar code on my arm

all this is part of the spindoctors's desperate effort to take attention away from those MP's and other bobo's who partied in Thonglor!

this time's scapegoat is the youth!

sure they know how to party etc but this cluster originated from Thonglor's happy few!

Soon you will understand how ridiculous that comment is.

It would be interesting to see the number of active cases by age group, cross tabulated by province.  The gov’t should publish, then we could have a more in-depth and intelligent conversation.

As explained in some articles the vaccine will not necessarily prevent the spread, but limit hospitalizations and deaths.......turning it into an everyday illness, rather than a life threatening illness.........the UK is already expecting a upsurge in infections even with the relatively successful and aggressive vaccination program.......as Johnson said (not a lie this time) cases will increase as we ease lockdown as the decline in cases was due to lockdown not the vaccine.

True, except vaccines do also reduce the infection rate. The current vaccines can handle the UK variant but the SA and Brazilian strains are more dangerous, so we still need to be cautious. Vaccines will always be behind the latest strains just as the flue vaccines are. Covid19 will be around in some form for years to come. Vaccines will enable us to live with it just as we live with flue. The question is how many people will we sacrifice yearly in return for a normal life without restrictions? Of course everyone will have a different answer largely depending on how vulnerable they are, hence the headline.

My cunning plan is to change 2 of the normal vaccine priority groups. Government members and wealthy hisos should be last in line not first. This simple and easily enforced rule would concentrate efforts like nothing else ever could. Instead of the general public being expendable they suddenly become a priority. The headline would then be "Young people still being infected due to the governments slow rollout of effective vaccines".

How many under 30's have died from COVID?  Not many. Yet we (older) shut the world down.  I'd be <deleted> and partying if I were under 30 too.

It used to be true that Covid-19 was killing mainly older people. That's increasingly no longer true in many, many countries.

Here's just one example from France, with many other countries reporting exactly the same thing.

COVID-19 now killing more younger people, French doctor tells Euronews

That would be a lot of numbers but I would expect them to be similar to other countries. Here's some figures for comparison for England during lockdown (bars, pubs, non essential shops, hairdressers etc closed) and people being vaccinated (one or more doses) eldest first down to those over 50

Estimated percentage of the population testing positive for the coronavirus (COVID-19) on nose and throat swabs, daily, by age group since 21 February 2021, England
Thailand needs to do a lot more testing to make a meaningful comparison but there is little doubt that young people are far more likely to spread covid if there are no restrictions in place and they are the last ones to be vaccinated.
They should not be blamed for it but instead restrictions should allow for this fact. Closing places where they meet such as bars and education establishments will be far more effective than asking them to distance. Blame those that allow young people to get together not the young people.

They have government ministers under thirty years of age?  I didn't know that.

Not surprising, what age do you have to be to join the army? If anyone wants to get ahead in politics here in Thailand, surely joining the army and getting an education at one of their military academies is the way to go.

They won't need to bother about getting votes to get in to parliament, just walk in and take over.

Yes but here in the U.K. the ridiculous rules are working, because we have people of intelligence running the situation unfortunately for that reason I fear Thailand is doomed

Sadly for you the statistics don't support your statements,

UK = 4.38 million cases, 127,000 fatalities.

TH = 37,500 cases, 97 fatalities.

I feel quite relieved to live here and not be reliant on that level of intelligence.

All I can say is I am glad you believe the numbers, because many of us don't.  Add in the way they are treating this new wave leaves much more to the imagination than just pure abstract failure on their part. But to each his own.  Looking like many restrictions will be put in place but then I do not believe that the limited restrictions will help at least not in the near foreseeable future, as we are still 14 to 18 days away from the end of Songkran travel and return home which will allow these cases to just keep climbing.  Stay safe.

Yes I do believe them. The world is a very small place these days, trying to keep deaths' in the thousands quiet, even in Thailand, would be almost impossible. Facebook alone would leak the news in hours not weeks, doctors and nurses in the community would do the same, evidence of crematoria working overtime, grieving relatives in the community, you simply can't hide it.

He has been banging the same drum for months. I think he has convinced himself.

Meanwhile back in his country.....

Of course you are correct. Impossible to hide it. Not a skerrick of evidence to back up his repeated claims.

No, no, no.  Don't not look at Prayut's ministers.  Bad.  Look at the young people.  All their fault.

I think Prayuts ministers were “partying” with young people.
