BANGKOK: When Thailand's transport minister was recently diagnosed with COVID-19, it was Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha who got a headache.

Prayut was not particularly lauded for his leadership last year against the coronavirus, but for much of 2020, Thailand fought the disease to a standstill, with low infection and death rates envied by more developed countries.

Now, an outbreak at nightspots in the capital Bangkok has sent new infections surging, suggesting the country may have been lulled into a false sense of security before mass vaccinations begin.

You think.  Young rich the beautiful people and wannabes all thinking that they are invincible.  Not much different from all the american spring break students. Dancing while in itself is not a hazard add in no mask close crowded dance floor and hot sweaty bodies.

As a great american said

Complacency due to the low infection and death rates have cause people to disregard preventative measures. To add to the problem the government has doe an extremely poor job at vaccinations. Many poor African nations have a far better record of vaccinations than Thailand.

Bangkok, Hua Hin, Chonburi, Phuket and anywhere else that entertainment venues decided to throw a party and patrons who think they're immune.

It’s ironic that many of these poor African nations are also more politically advanced now than Thailand and likely to pass the LOS economically in future decades. They also offer better education options for their youth and rate better on the corruption scale. Not all of course, but the future seems bright. Thailand not so much.

Not only African--- Lao's is now way ahead of Thailand, I spoke to a friend there on Skype recently, he has had a (free) jab early march--said most farangs had. I live near the boarder and (before Covid) every weekend the richer Lao set would all come across to use the Thai private hospitals etc as theirs were so bad---so I thought he may have got it wrong but Google says they rolled out early March.......so much for their  3rd world status.

Here's why:

"The Democratic Republic of Congo will begin vaccinating the population against the coronavirus on 19 April. 1.9 million AstraZeneca vaccines arrived in the African country on the second of March thanks to the COVAX program." I wish they would offer Thailand the Covax program. Oh wait...... What??? They did??? DRC has 10 times more vaccines than Thailand??? Sinovac is a placebo at best therefore it doesn't count.

So that should account for all the Karaoke Bars & Pubs full of hard working Thais, all Weddings, Funerals, and Merit Making events.

And these venues are everywhere.

I am unaffected by all these shut downs and lock ups, but to some, no many, to be locked up and shut out is no life at all. Add to that the loss of income that the Thais have experienced in the last year and I certainly understand their pain. They are ready to get on with life and if they catch COVID19, the flu or AIDS, so be it. If you listen to any of the propaganda from Dr. Fauci in the USA, getting the vaccine is NOT the do all, end all savior it's been advertised to be.  The Thai authorities have had a year to prepare for a surge in infections. They've opened field hospitals. It's time for nature to take it's course...

If you are fearful, then quarantine yourself.

(I told my 18 year old son if he gets exposed not to worry about bringing it home. We'll deal with it... Life goes on).

I'm not against people doing stuff, or against people trying to make a living... life does have to go on.

I protect myself outside the home and have respect for others around me.

But I am against the idiots who refuse to be sensible and take precautions... have no respect for themselves or others, of which there are many Thais and foreigners alike.

I witness them every time I go out.

I watched the Pattaya news on TMN this morning, a go go in Walking street, a bar in Buakhow, and some restaurants in and around the Pattaya area were mentioned, I'm not sure if it was the timeline of one person or a general overview but needless to say those places will have to be deep cleaned and all the staff tested, any Pattaya deniers members been out and about in those areas might wanna investigate which places are involved.

And no, I'm not scaremongering just passing on info from this mornings news.
