The number well down over past Songkran's, could this possibly be due to more people being told to stay home to avoid getting or giving people Covid ?

If the deaths had been due to covid, there would be panic everywhere. Road accidents - and no one blinks.
They are still people dying needlessly, but there's no chance of infecting others - apart from those rubbernecking.

100% agree with you. The truth of this years Songkran's Death Race 2000 will become more clearer next year when there is a huge rise in the death toll compared to this year.
