Morning,  I have a 10 year old SUV which I need to sell. I was told that I could not sell and get money back after my work permit expires

April 30 th. This happened to 2 people I follow on tweeter.

My work permit expiries on April 30 th, but my visa is good until Sept 30 th. No problem with my visa.

Is this true about the work permit ?

Can you explain the process to sell ? I will sell to a friend at low price, as I believe there is a tax ?

Again, nothing to do about my visa>

thanks,

Someone has told you some solid porkie-pies !!!!...

If you are the owner of the vehicle and hold the Blue Registration book you can sell to anyone at any time on any visa (within Thailand).

Tax is payable on the sale, its usually a negligible account (i.e. at a guess, about 2000b on a older vehicle)

The process is simple

Agree price & Transfer money

A) Go to DLT and transfer ownership.

or B) Sign Power of Attorney and Vehicle transfer documents (only new owner needs to go to DLT), sign over ownership in the Blue Book.

(its probably easier you chose A: and both go to the DLT together)

The new owner will need a Certificate of Address to take ownership.

The seller does not need to prove address (although some on this forum will mistakenly tell you to do).

The seller can sell on any visa or visa exempt status.

The buyer can buy on any visa or visa exempt status.
