I've seen some great Airbnb prices but I've also heard it's dead. Are bars open? Girlie bars? How is it?

One of my friends in the next village used to work in Lamai, and is in contact with some of her friends who are still there. She says it's totally dead, even the 7-Elevens and Family Marts are closed apparently. She booked a ticket to Samui to go and see her friends, hoping that she'd find her a job, I showed her some of the YouTube videos and she cancelled it.

At the moment no bars are serving alcohol, so in general it's the same as not open, so also no bars open in Lamai.

 

Last I was there, Lamai Beach was almost as dead as Chaweng, which was, and still is, almost as dead a Dodo. However, if you stay by the Ring Road there are quite a bit of life, but that's not where the girlie-bars are, if that's what you are looking for.

 

You might have better chances for some entertainment in Bang Rak-area, when the bars re-open...????

My Thai wife has a friend with a resort in Lamai, she says its totally dead down that way.

I live in Lamai.......Deader than a Dodo or a (D*ldo) with a Flat Battery!......."Nothing To See Here!....Move Along Folks".

So sad. Had some good times there. The girl muay thai fights were a family affair. Had best ever garlic pepper fish. Met a girl who was special, for a while. 555

I don't go often to  Lamai, but since I came back early Feb many more businesses have closed everywhere on the island. People are starting to lose hope the things are going to get better soon.

 

I went to Surat Thani late April,  pretty much there was not a single foreigner to be seen on the ferries.
