Popular Post Jonathan Fairfield
BANGKOK (NNT) - Bangkok’s City Hall has revealed its goal is to vaccinate 70% of its residents by the end of this year, asking the government to allocate at least 10 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine to the capital. The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) said that its target is to vaccinate 5.34 million residents (aged more than 18) against COVID-19 this year. The BMA’s Permanent Secretary Silapasuay Raweesangsoon, said this number of people will account for 70% of the city’s residents, including the non-registered population, with the request for 10 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine to be submitted to the government. The city plans to undertake its mass vaccination project from May-December, with several venues being prepared for different groups of people. Only those with chronic illnesses, people with certain medical conditions, and people aged 60 years old or more will be vaccinated at a hospital. People without chronic illnesses and younger than 60 years old will receive their jabs at vaccination centers outside the hospital. The city will also be providing mobile vaccination services for underprivileged people, residents at shelters, and at nursing homes. Registration will be required to allow the staff to prepare enough doses of vaccine, and to prevent crowding at each vaccination venue. Nine non-hospital venues are now being prepared to host vaccination centers, namely SCG Bang Sue office, Central Ladprao shopping center, True Digital Park, Thanya Park shopping center, The Mall Bang Kapi shopping center, Robinson Lifestyle Lad Krabang shopping center, Central Pinklao shopping center, The Mall Bang Khae shopping center, and Lotus Minburi superstore. Each of these places will be able to vaccinate around 14,000 people per day. The BMA is expected to receive 500,000 doses of AstraZeneca vaccine in June, which will be given to medical and health workers, disease control officers, people with concerning chronic diseases, people more then 60 years old, and then to the general public. -- © Copyright NNT 2021-04-25 - Whatever you're going through, the Samaritans are here for you - Follow Thaivisa on LINE for breaking COVID-19 updates 0xf9f8fe 2 1

What else would you do?.... Bangkok holds 15% of Thailands population in a higher population density than anywhere else in the country.... Thus: the highest risk of spread anywhere in Thailand is in Bangkok. Would you choose to ignore that to deliberately avoid any irrational criticism of bias towards those in the capital ???

newnative
Can't even get the months right. Expects to start vaccinating in May but doesn't receive the vaccines until some time in June. Good luck.

Bangkok has a population of 5,200 per square kilometer. Doesn't even make the list of the top 68 cities of which Hoboken at number 68 has three times the density of Bangkok. Sheesh. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_cities_proper_by_population_density#Cities_by_population_density Jeez, I'm a Jersey boy! Hoboken rules, just a ferry away from NYC. Best skyline views across the Hudson. I'm a foreigner but I'm registered, if that means having a Thai ID number on my pink card. I'll believe vaccination when I see it. Honestly, I prefer to pay for a vaccine of my choice, currently Sputnik V or J&J. Blood clots? Well, life's a gambit, innit?

Spain was locked down for the best part of 3 month's and was subject to some of the most stringent regulations imposed yet is still to this day experiencing case's. In this particular case, there's no valid reason to criticize this. Considering that this is a BMA announcement, not a Thai government announcement, looking after Bangkok is exactly what they are supposed to do.
