HI!  I read on one website that applying for a new driver's license (not renewing an existing license) in Thailand is banned until October 2021 due to the COVID epidemic.  That doesn't seem to make a lot of sense to me, and on the other hand, I have read other recent articles outlining the procedure of applying for a new license with no mention of any ban.  Does anyone have any official information or first-hand experience on this?  Thanks!

edit:  My address is in Nonthaburi, I think I have to go to the office near Mo Chit BTS.

I got my motorcycle driving licence today in Banglamung but I had already passed the tests before Songkran. All that was needed was to take pictures and print out the licence. An expat I talked to who wanted to renew his long-expired 5-year driving licence was told to come back in July.

I'm not even going to ask why he was told to come back in July.  555

Because of Covid, they don't want mass of people in their office

(If you have been here, you know already t's overcrowded most of the time) so they have decided to stop for now the renewal of the expired DL 2 and 5 years and an automatic ''extension'' of the validity of these licences for 6 months has been granted by the authorities

(From my underrstanding the police and the insurance companies are well aware of it but TIT so who knows really what could happen if you have a big accident with your driving license expired since months)
