This stupidity and obvious bias against foreigners needs to go viral so that anyone thinking about a holiday here can see how they will be treated

  • Why not just call in an air strike ? These old pissers are obviously a serious threat to society..not to mention causing Yorkshire pudding shortages across Thailand.

6 people and a child of around 11 or 12 years old have a get together around the pool and its called an illegal party? Surely we're missing something here as this is just bizarre.

  • That is no different to a large family sitting round a dinner table . But like the the Darts and the Bridge , it is much more newsworthy when it is the " white devils " doing it.

A "team" of Police Officers to break up that "riot" of a party?

Gathering of more than 20 people is prohibited in dark red zone, so what? I can see only 7 guys here...

APR29.jpg

Precisely.  So what have these people done wrong?  They're not even in a dark red zone.  There has to be more than this than meets the eye.

Mods

Based on Thailands new concern for public health, I assume we can take video of THai's meeting and drinking in numbers too. Maybe a dedicated thread

Here in Surat there is no shortage of non mask wearing as well. I am sure the BIB would call a national manhunt for each case and press conference...

another example of total idiot expats who think the rules dont apply to them

That's for allowed/approved gatherings. Parties are not allowed no matter how many people.

Where does is say that?  It's certainly not what I have read.

A number of troll posts and replies have been removed.

Taoism: shit happens

Buddhism: if shit happens, it isn't really shit

Islam: if shit happens, it is the will of Allah

Catholicism: if shit happens, you deserve it

Judaism: why does this shit always happen to us?

Atheism: I don't believe this shit

I tend to agree that this should be prevented. We had such a situation in our village. Three party-goers contracted the virus with one elderly participant now seriously ill.

Can't have a beer with friends at home they say,  but can go shopping in  Thai street market. thats  ok, how stupid

Do please try to remember where you are!!??

I'm sorry to have to say this but THANK YOU to the authorities.  No masks or practicing of social distancing seen in the photo.  There are many farangs obeying the rules, why should these be any different.  But, raiding of these parties and get-togethers needs to be done to foreigners and Thais including the Hi-So's as well.  The beaches where I live are open and the Thai (and other nationalities) sit together in close groups again NO MASKS and NO SOCIAL DISTANCING.  Let's get together and obey the rules until CIVID is totally under control or this will continue for many years.

From the Thai Criminal Procedure Code:

Section 92 A search may not be conducted in a private place without a warrant or an order thereof directed by a court, save where it is performed by an administrative or police official in any of the following events:

2.  Where a flagrant offence is being committed in such private place.  (the only event that could apply)

So not only is a quiet dinner gathering of six an illegal offense, but also a FLAGRANT offense!  Amazing Thailand...

They were sitting outside. The chance of getting Covid in such a setting is minimal. No music, no karaoke, no shouting close to each other...

Please, the paranoid hyphochondria has to end some time.  A modicum of common sense needs to come into play, don't you think?

If you are interested, there was a video of the raid 'in progress' on The Taiger youtube channel yesterday.  It was all quite pathetic looking honestly. The police shouting "you party you party you party" endlessly, confused people milling about. There was no music playing, the police found a cooler with wine and beer in it and triumphantly exclaimed "you party" again. The loudest thing in the video was the police- there was no music playing at all.

It looked like the person doing the filming wasn't a police officer, maybe some local do-gooder who snitched on them.

Phuket do you need to day more monkeys and bananas

Can you tell me what the difference is from this family group have a Sunday get together and to a family group of Thai's sitting in a restaurant eating lunch or in their home? Phuket is not a red zone and restaurants are open and busy with local Thai's eating together and sharing food in the same bowls.

Don't worry, Covid will not go away. Colds have not gone away, flue has not gone away, so why do you think Covid will go away? It is your choice to socialize or not.

what exactly is the definition / the meaning of "shall refrain"? In my knowledge it's somewhere between "please don't do it" and "you should not", but it doesn't mean "must not", right?

In certain areas Measles nearly did go away (US was declared measles free until unvaccinated arrivals brought it back into the US and further unvaccinated people spread it)/

Polio did go away in all countries except a few in Asia (Pakistan and Afganistan) this is because of poor vaccination.

Smallpox did go away and was eradicated solely by vaccination.

That said, I agree..... As with the Common cold (4 type of Coronavirus contribute to approximately 25% of colds), SARS-CoV-2 will be with us and will be extremely difficult to eradicate without 100% effective vaccines.

The virus transmits too easily and hides too easily, it can be transmitted through a population or community before its recognised.

Thats incorrect....

Shall not - means the element or action is prohibited.

So, how many does it take to make a party?

I was always told two's company three's a crowd... [unless she was invited]

if it's private party [small numbers] at your home address I don't see an issue, it's not different to having family visit?

So the private  "party" organised for a certain minister by his friends during Songkran, and mulitple people got infected and one died was not an illegal one?

Or is this two tier justice again?

And if these same people are maintaining a ‘bubble’ their behaviour is perfectly reasonable.

Just as the behaviour of 6 people having dinner outside at someone’s house is perfectly reasonable.

What is not reasonable at all is arresting people for having a couple of friends over for dinner - the very action is outrageous and preposterous.

Indeed.   And to be clear, restaurants in Phuket are still open for dine in service at the moment, though no alcohol.   There are no restrictions on the sale of alcohol at the usual outlets, and no restriction on numbers in a home who can consume alcohol (as Surat Thani).

I read righteous comments from individuals criticising lack of mask wearing and social distancing etc.   These people were in their home for God's sake, where there is no requirement to wear a mask etc.

Yep !

If they would leave out the „pool villa“ and „foreigners“,

and instead chase Thai families and groups,

even if the day had 72 hours, they would not catch all.
