PHUKET: Phuket Governor Narong Woonciew has made a special appeal to the people of Phuket to do their best to help prevent the spread of COVID-19 across the island as the number of daily new infections remains in double-digits.

In a video posted online last night (May 14), Governor Narong stressed the importance of reducing the number of daily new cases of infection so that Phuket could re-open to receiving fully vaccinated international tourists from July 1.

He also pointed out that people gathering together for a ‘party’, and especially to drink alcohol together, was now prohibited throughout the province.

Unfortunately this repeated comment and obsession with alcohol and party invalidate any real concern, virus is not specific to only those events, I would say there is chance of spreading in gatherings in temples, mosques, churches, government offices specially when long queues, packed markets, and of course events like funerals and weddings, and other political or governmental events that somehow can get "special" permission to go ahead....

Mention all that and be taken more seriously....!

Why didn't he stop the party from the Kolour event management last month, if he's so keen on prohibiting fun & pleasure ?

Maybe this would have been above his pay rate ?
