BANGKOK (Reuters) - Thailand's food and drug regulator on Friday approved for emergency use the coroanvirus vaccine developed by China's Sinopharm, a senior official said.

"The FDA has approved the Sinopharm vaccine," senior health official Paisan Dankhum told a news conference, making it the fifth COVID-19 vaccine Thailand has approved.

how bad prayuth, anutin, and many other currupted politicians, are looking now, with this unexpected turns of events?

but what if this vax won't arrive soon? or faulty batch? or cause many side effects?

it was said it will be sold. How much? for how much it will be bought?

how many doses (over the recommended now), will need to be taken to protect from the african and the other mutations? how often booster needed?

those some $100 per dose might turn out beyond budgets of very many patients

pass has very many meanings.

some of them are pleasant, some are not so much.

some 30 are passing every single day. That figure might rise 30x, when the indian mutation spreads.

Once this vax is approved there might be not new approvals in the near future and there will be not that much urgent pressure to import yet another vax. Now in the line are indian and russian ones.

sinopharm as good as AZ.

in such situation would you chose thai made AZ and get it nobody know when (because of production problems)?

or wait till sometimes to the end of year for moderna for 3500b?

or get sinopharm in july for $200?

have you already had your seasonal flu jab, which partially protects from covid?

Tha application for approval was made on Monday, yes this week, 24 May.

Approval given Thursday, maybe today.

Amazing how we're told these processes take weeks or months, and only the government can buy/import vaccines.

But amazing Thailand, approval in four days, and no problem with importing vaccines.

Why suprised? Sinopharm already approved by WHO and over 40 countries. Now we have the good fortune to receive a million doses of Sinopharm in June.

Another useless Chinese vaccine with an 72.8% effective against symptomatic COVID-19, so I expect the Thai Governement will buy it

The US FDA standard for covid vaccine approval is 50% effective.

I was amazed, not really surprised. Was anyone surprised? Of course not.

OK, why wasn't it approved months ago?

Or why did it take four days?

No need to answer.

OK, if it's so awesome why only a million doses? And why is a real estate firm involved in trying to import 20 million doses?

Again, no need to reply.

Never had a flu jab in my life, in the UK or in all the years of living here... never had flu either.

me neither, but on top of preventing co-infection, it also temporarily boosts your immune system, so smaller chance for covid.

there are many vax, very safe, used for tens of years on billions.

Within the last 3 months I had 5 jabs (mmr, prevnar, hepa A, typhoid, zostavax). On my list another 3 (tdap, varicell, meningo). And later on boosters of those.

the thing is - we are getting older and our immune system becoming weaker. So that you never got ill for many years doesn't prevent you from getting sick this year

This one has to be paid for by anyone who wants to receive it ( how much not known right now ).

Apparently not more than 1000baht ( per dose) announced on tv .

I might approve wearing a welly with a hole in it for emergency use in a flood, does not mean it would be of any use
