Phuket - Non Imm O (Dependent)

My (foreign) wife has got a job and visa to go with it.

I'm still on Tourist visa in Phuket with COVID extension.

 

Have been told by my wifes employer that I cant go change to a dependent visa whilst within the country(?).

 

Is this correct or will we have to leave and re-enter?

If you she is working for a company or teaching you can apply for 90 day non-o visa entry based upon being a member of her family.

Thanks Joe - my confusion is that I was told this was not available in Phuket (only Bangkok).

The non-o visa can be applied for at any immigration office now and it must be applied for at the office where a extension will be issued.

It is mentioned on the immigration volunteers website.

It says dependent cannot be done but that would only be for those who are family members of a person on retirement extensions and a few others.
