I am due to report to CW to renew my visa on Wednesday at 1;30

Since there is no form letter available, what EXACTLY does the letter from K-Bank need to state?

Do I have to go Wednesday morning to the bank, or will immigration accept a letter dated tomorrow?

thanks

The banks are located lower level.

The clerk will know what you need. Just say extension.

Make a deposit say 100baht and ask clerk to photocopy last page to reflect deposit. They know what the bank letter requires. Cost at Kasikorn is 100baht.

When you say report at 1.30 sounds like you made appointment?

why only photocopy last page? don't they want copy of whole passbook? no need for bank statements? (assuming 800k deposit method)

Dr. Jack,

Yes, I made an appointment on-line...

I'd like to get the letter at KBANK near my house, before I get to the immigration office.  I tried today, but they have no clue other than to put my bank account # and passport #..

i photocopy 2 years of my bank book, so that there are no issues.

i'm on the 65,000 bht per month plan, so i "credit advice" slips every month

Last time it took me 45 minutes.

My advice is this:

Deposit 100 baht and get your bank book updated.

Print out an example letter to show them what you want. I have attached an example that you can use.

Sit and wait whilst they talk amongst themselves are realise that they don't know what they're doing.

Take a drink with you because it will take ages.

Edit: apologies to UbonJoe, he beat me to it.

I'm on the 800k deposit method, gave them copies of passbook pages back to 2016, no good they need all the pages back to 2014 the first entry in the book.

Then they sent me to the bank to get an up to date statement (which doesn't contain the movement on the day) but the were happy anyway, they already had the bank "ownership" letter.

I submitted copies of all pages of the bank book, and the standard Bank letter, for the 800k method and was promptly told to go to the bank and get a statement.

When I said "you've got a full copy of the book" answer

                                       OR

Keep in mind that you need hard copy print out of your appointment confirmation email.

Don't go to main ticket # desk.

Walk straight to L 32. Be 15 minutes early.

They do not call your name. When io free approach with appointment printout.

Is that a Fixed Term Deposit account or Savings account.

I used a 12 month FTD account and dependant on the IO sometimes can't understand why there are no withdrawals in-between.

I now have the bank put both the FTD and Savings account balances on the letter, just to show I have a separate account for living expenses.

Savings, used to use a term deposit in another bank but fell out with them, interest had to be paid into a "daily use" account and then they wouldn't give me a replacement ATM card as I no longer had a Work Permit.

Yes, also had problems with some IO's who can't understand why with fixed term accounts that I cannot change balance on the day of application.

Also had the problem that with 1.6 Million Baht in the account that I still needed an Embassy letter to prove income (prior to the withdrawal of UK from providing said letters).

Am currently setting up to use the "Combination" method for next years extension, 30k per month in 1 account + 500k in another account. so expect major problems next year, (consensus of my friends is that my IO will not accept Combination).

Will have the back-up on 800k+ in a 3rd account in a different bank, if it fails.

I've been submitting extensions for a disabled expat using the combination method for the last two years, no problem. He uses 200K in a Fixed Term and 50K monthly transfers.

Basically since he could no longer obtain Embassy Income letters.

Which IO do you use?

Weird lot sometimes at Immigration.

I did mine yesterday on 800K method. I went and got bank letter in the morning and deposited 1000 baht to get yesterday's date on it.

I went to Kalasin city Immigration armed  with full copies of everything.

They went through them and took out a number of photocopies and returned the others to me with also a copy of overstay rules and bans which I had to sign for.

I just always do belt and braces method and what they don't want they give back.

First time yesterday they asked for the Pink card as proof of where I lived and my partners ID as well.

Did 1 yr extension in Phuket yesterday... smooth... My Bangkok bank branch has the letter thing down pat. They do it every day. I went in at 10am and was out in 25 minutes. They know exactly what immigration wants, and hand me the whole package in a tidy brown envelope for 200 baht(555).  I'm so glad I do my immigration stuff in Phuket when I hear all the horror stories from people who deal with the IO's and banks in other provinces.

At Phuket Immigration they have a friendly IO who checks you in, no appt necessary, looks through your paperwork for anything missing, sends you next door for copies if you need them, gives you a number tag and clips it to your package and shortly thereafter sends you inside for another IO to stamp everything, take your 1900 baht, and roll you thru. Quick and tidy. Pick up passport the next day. I always tip the friendly paper checker guy 100 baht when I leave, (others do too) and he beams and wai's like a kid who just got a new puppy. Also the Phuket Immigration Volunteers do a helluva good job, and provide a great service to the expat (and tourist) community.

I always leave with a smile on my face, and a lot of gratitude that I'm not dealing with some of the offices that some members here have to use.

Certainly are. For the first time at my last retirement extension the IO asked for sight of my Thai Mrs's blue book. She hadn't brought it with us but they said 'OK'. We'll remember to take it next time. Didn't ask me for a yellow book/pink ID card. Just as well because I have neither!

Good to hear positive comments. Stress free in Phuket! Sounds like it's as good as you could ever get.

I take a copied letter in they did the year before, girls look at it like they never saw one before, gets passed to 2-3 others who just stare at it. if the (male) manager is not there I have to go back when he is, the female staff all act like they are trainees just started, can't issue a new book either without step by step instruction. Got to go this week ????

What does 'L' stand for - lines?

How many lines/desks are there at CW?

I'm not sure you can get a bank statement the same day to include that mornings update, someone can confirm. Passbook update no problem

Depends on the bank.
