Change from Covid extension back to Non immigrant in country

Featured Replies

I was on a Non-B teaching visa. When it came time for my one-year extension my school didn't have all the paperwork prepared. So the immigration officer told us to get a Covid extension which we did. The immigraton officer said I will be able to get a one year extension on my Non-B again after my school has the needed paperwork. So now I'm on a 60-day Covid extension. Just wondering if anyone else went back to a Non immigrant visa after a Covid extension like this. I'm a bit worried that my Non-B is actually cancelled now and I'll have to leave country after they discontinue Covid extensions.

I also understand that I'm not legally allowed to work on a Covid extension.

You can apply for another extension of stay based upon teaching when the school has all of your paperwork to do it.

I am sure your non-b visa expired long ago so you have nothing that can be canceled.

The covid 19 extension is still a extension of your original non-b visa entry done long ago. So for all intents and purposes you are on a permit to stay allowed by a non-b visa.

A work permit is the only thing that allows you to work.

Says who?

get the covid  extension.  get work permit FIRST, not Non-B.  yea, things are not the same..    It's in CAPS because I know 100%.

after that, get the Non-B.

IF they open the borders AND you don't have a Non-B.......well, then maybe you have to leave.  But this is like months down the road.....shouldn't cost you any sleep.

I'm not a lawyer.    Common sense.  The school hired you.  signed a contract.  The director signed it.   The director is important in the community.   Gov't school, then hundreds or thousands of families know this person.   Usually immigration calls the school first.

The odds of you getting arrested, school loses face, immigration arresting a teacher, parents confused.......ONLY because you didn't have a Non-B..... yea, about 0.00000005%

If this happens, I'm sure there is more to the story.     I wouldn't worry about it.   Work, listen to the school, go on their timetable and maybe check-in every week or so to see what's going on......can take a few months.   now it's faster.   still i'm guessing between 1-2 months.

He still on a permit to stay from a non-b visa. The covid 19 extension did not change that. It only extended it for 60 days.

Yes you can apply for the extension near the end of the covid 19 extension.

Thank you

Did you get the extension in BKK? I would like to know where you went ( location and counter). I am also on a Non B looking to get the covid extension.
