Swimming Pools and Gyms to open in Chon Buri province (Pattaya) beginning on June 14

SOME GOOD NEWS FOR CHON BURI re local restrictions:

Effective June 14, Swimming pools and water parks will be open, and gyms, fitness center, and sports fields can be opened until 9pm.  I assume that means parks as well.

This is according to what seems to be a well vetted article appearing in the Pattat News, and linked below, and that includes a copy of the official order from the Chonburi Communicable Disease Committee, chaired by the governor.

I posted that link recently.... perhaps we can believe things are opening up, or more likely getting ahead of themselves rather early before vaccinations numbers are sufficient and have been given time to act.

Great news, but still shocking that schools remain closed.

I agree with that since I'm pretty sure that all teachers have been vaccinated, and children are at minimal risk of becoming infected.

I could be wrong about teachers already being vaccinated; I'm just assuming they would have been included in the initial rollout that started in February.  If anybody knows for sure, chime in ????

I dunno...I think the closing of beaches and swimming pools was a gross overreaction.  I mean, the chances of infection in a swimming pool or especially on a stretch of open beach seems so remote as to not even be a danger, just like riding a bike without a mask is really not a danger from a scientific perspective.

As I keep saying it is not the pools themselves, or swimming in the sea, it is trying to stop people congregating in numbers on the beach and around a large pool, that they need to stop.

I see too much of this claptrap of people saying you cannot get Covid in a pool, swimming in the sea etc etc.... it is the associated socializing which the police cannot control and it also brings about confrontations.

Yeah I agree that lack of social distancing on the beaches and pools is a problem, but it just seemed that there was a way to address that without resorting to a total shutdown.

I mean, there are lifeguards that have been out patrolling the beaches during this entire shutdown.  It seems to me that they could easily break up gatherings of people violating social distancing measures without banning people who are there only to swim or jog / walk along the beach.

In fact, a couple of weeks ago they got much more lax about people walking along the beach, and last week they pretty much started allowing people to swim, so what will happen on July 14 is really just making what is already happening "official"

I'm just glad the beaches and pools are opening becuase swimming is my main source of exercise and I've really missed it lately.

If anyone doubts this is true, here is the official order from the Governor:

BTW, for anyone looking for a way to translate an image of something written in Thai to English, use Google Translate app.  It works quite well.  I use it all the time, particularly in supermarkets for translating food packaging ????

I want to find the next order and would like to push people to refuse any further closure.

How can we do ? Just go swim everyday, them liking it or not ?

What these powerless village or condo people could do anyway ? NOTHING ! So we should not listen to their stupid idiot BS anymore !

Social distancing indoors and outdoors are two completely different animals. Outdoor activities appear to be far safer and it is likely less communication of infections takes place on the beach or at a pool, than indoors.

Alot of science based facts seem to be getting lost in the fear of the Zombie Apocalypse.

When you’re outside, the air is naturally circulating and it is easier for airborne contaminants to disperse. Which is why outdoor dining and workout classes, and spending time in nature were recommended activities over the last few months.

100% correct.  So much science based thought seems to discounted during this pandemic.  It's really pretty shocking when even officials we rely on to make important policy decisions seem to ignore science in favor of "political correctness" or even public hysteria.

Then go protest at the seat of Government of the country... stop shouting from behind a coward's wall of a Forum.

Go ahead, be a scofflaw and show us your metal, have a swim.
