The GPS enabled wristband will be able to inform the authorities of the exact location of each tourist on the island.

Just like sex offenders back home. I can see this being very popular with tourists.

They really do not want ANY tourists do they?

The sandbox original proposal looked ok , something which many people could get along with . Then the "upgrades" to 14d , and now a wristband , , you got to be joking right ? Is it 1 April ? Good luck finding a tourist who does want to do that ... I rather take the 2 weeks locked in room then doing that .

They should rebrand this as “Phuket Prison Island Simulator.” The wristband doubles as a heart rate/blood pressure monitor.

If either passes a very narrow threshold (like when you get drunk or have sex). The BMW smart car is alerted and public safety representatives will SWOOP in and escort you to mandatory 24hr hospital quarantine and PCR testing for 10000 baht to make sure you aren’t coming down with covid.

You really need to have a very strong reason ( meet your wife, children, etc) to accept to go through all this bullshxx. I do understand some forms of limitations and control, but if you put everything togheter (COE, insurance, etc) that's really too much.

They just don't have a clue how to attract tourists to come .

By imposing more limitations and covid tests to somebody who comes for a holiday they make themselves a laughing stock ...

I will just sit back and watch all their efforts ... fail .

And laugh ...

so just now ONLY foreign tourists allowed.

no one from Thailand can enter.

of course this had to be. so i am not allowed to go. or thai tourists.

Guess the upside of only allowing foreign tourists in, rather than locals, is that foreign tourists may not be aware of the endemic corruption and scams that Phuket is well known for, So hence apart from foreigners being subjected to draconian measures they can be ripped off until their day of departure.

Just so that I am clear

  1. Supply proof of vaccine
  2. Apply for visa
  3. Complete COE registration
  4. Covid insurance of at least 100,000 dollars
  5. Register SHA+ hotel (which will be overpriced)
  6. Arrange flight directly to Phuket (which will be overpriced)
  7. PCR test 72 hours before I leave UK
  8. Possible PCR test on arrival
  9. Load up tracking app on phone
  10. Wristband to track my every move
  11. Two PCR tests during my 14 day stay on Island (at my own cost)
  12. Entertainment venues closed
  13. Tracked by facial recognition
  14. Large fines for breaking rules (not sure what they are but will try to mindread when I get there)
  15. Unable to visit other islands, (Phi Phi, Coral etc)
  16. Wear mask at all times (Even when I am asleep on the beach??)
  17. No alcohol on beach.
  18. No alcohol with my meal
  19. 10 day quarantine on arrival in UK

Or

  1. Fly to Portugal.
  2. Enjoy holiday
  3. Fly home

Or if you live in Australia

     1.  Stay home     (we are not allowed international travel yet)

Have the clowns any idea of how bloody stupid that scheme is?

So they expect tourists  to flock to Phuket to be treated the same as criminals, dream on morons, it aint gonna happen.

Are these clowns determined to destroy Phuket tourism forever?

Certainly appears that way.

You could have summed all that in one word.... fools

They really don't have a clue how Westerners think, or how this tracking bracelet will be received.

I can see people arriving in Thailand and blankly refusing to wear them.

We don't like authoritarianism and this action exemplifies it.

Exactly.
