The Centre for COVID-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) mentioned today that it is considering sending in security officials, police and military officers, to oversee construction worker housing facilities, as one of the stricter measures to deal with the current outbreak.

Bangkok has 575 such locations in 50 districts, housing almost 80,000 Thai and foreign workers.

The CCSA said the management teams of these places have been very cooperative, in efforts to control the outbreak. If the situation is not brought fully under control, however, the measures would have to be adjusted. The CCSA has contacted the Interior Ministry to deploy military and police officers, to oversee all 575 facilities in Bangkok.

In other words, they want to convert these construction worker camps that are bad at the best of times to full-blown prison camps. I feel really bad for those who have to live and work under these conditions.

Obviously they were lax to start with, so if companies can't take care of protective measures then someone has to step in.

Is 'security official' a euphamism for envelope collector?

Just shut them all down and make their employers pay for hotel quarantine! And why they are about it pay proper living wages so their employees can afford to live in decent housing!

Maybe they can put sign up at entrance "Arbeit macht frei"?
