The daily number of new coronavirus cases in Bangkok went back up to more than 1,000 for the first time in more than a week, the Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) said on Thursday.

The capital, Samut Prakan, Samut Sakhon and Chiang Rai have also reported new clusters in the past 24 hours.

“The number in Bangkok has been in the three-digit range over the past week until today,” said Apisamai Srirangson, the CCSA’s deputy spokeswoman.

Strange how covid infection numbers are and have always been so obliging here 11000 in the UK with 70+% vaccinated and 53 million fully vaccinated for example ????

Amazing Thailand...85 or so known clusters have been identified in Bangkok now and yet infection rates in Bangkok remain relatively flat. I wonder if those clusters include the covid cases that were identified in my condo building last week due to the victims seeking private testing or the covid cases that were identified in the wet market behind our condo, which closed for 3 days for cleaning and just led to the vendors moving their stall tables into the the soi for the period that the small market was closed. It would be interesting in a morbid way to see the real covid numbers if free mass testing was encouraged and all infection areas received testing support. We have certainly not been offered any mass testing in our residential zone here.

So they went out and did over a thousand tests and found over a thousand people infected.

many on here have been posting the same thing for months

for some reason the authorities don't want to test, I suspect the primary reason is that they think it will make them look bad and also scupper any plans they have for opening up the country and of course they will lose face

it is in the interests of everyone in Thailand for them to be open and transparent, knowing the actual spread in accurate numbers is a vital tool to fighting this pandemic - putting you head in the sand and hoping it will go away is not

Well if they do get as far as opening the country, and I know you are an avid supporter of this move, I sincerely hope that I don't read sometime in the not too distant future that you have contracted this bloody awful disease going about your daily routine.
