Community Monitor Lizard Crashes Through Shop Ceiling in Ayutthaya
Pictures courtesy of Khaosod. Owner of a beauty shop in Ayutthaya was left terrified when a large monitor lizard crashed through the ceiling and landed in the middle of the store after days of unexplained noises above. The incident occurred at Lady Beauty Rojana, Village 2, Sam Ruean subdistrict, Bang Pa-in district, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya. CCTV footage captured the moment the hefty reptile fell through the ceiling, prompting the shop owner to call Ayutthaya Ruam Jai Rescue Association for help. Specialist snake and reptile handlers arrived to find damage to the rear storage area, with sections of ceiling broken and scattered. The monitor lizard had hidden among stacks of boxes, forcing rescuers to carefully remove them one by one. Once discovered, the animal put up a fierce struggle, managing to wriggle free and dash through the front of the shop, causing the owner to leap away in panic. A chaotic chase ensued before rescuers managed to grab hold of it again. Even then, it resisted violently and it took more than 30 minutes to subdue the lizard. It was eventually secured in a sack and released back into the wild. The shop owner said she had heard noises above the ceiling for several days but never imagined it was a monitor lizard. It wasn’t until the middle of the night, when part of the ceiling gave way, that she checked the CCTV footage and saw the creature fall, deciding to wait until morning to call for help. Crime Former Employee Arrested for Forging Documents & Embezzlement
Picture courtesy of Naewna. The Crime Suppression Division (CSD) of the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) has arrested a former employee accused of forging legal documents and embezzling more than 13 million baht from her employer. On 10 August, Pol Lt Gen Jiraphop Puridej, Commander of the CIB, assigned Pol Maj Gen Wittaya Sriprasertphap, Commander of the Crime Suppression Division and his team to apprehend Ms Kritporn, also known as Natthaphan, aged 36. She was arrested on a Pattaya Provincial Court warrant (No. จ.439/2568 dated 30 July 2025) on charges of document forgery, using forged documents, embezzlement, fraud and theft from an employer. The arrest took place on Phonprapanmit Road, Pattaya. The investigation began after complaints were filed against Ms Kritporn, a former employee of a real estate company, who allegedly falsified ownership documents and used forged slips to transfer money 43 times during 2023. These fraudulent transactions caused damages totaling approximately 13,683,808 baht. She has faced legal action for fraud and theft of employer property. Following the complaints, the CSD launched a thorough investigation and tracked Ms Kritporn to Pattaya, where she had been residing after fleeing. Officers located and arrested her walking along Phonprapanmit Road. She was then taken to Nong Prue Police Station to face charges. Preliminary interrogation indicates that Ms Kritporn has confessed to all accusations. The case is ongoing as authorities continue legal proceedings. Adapted by Asean Now from Naewna 2025-08-12 -

Middle East Israel Masses Troops Near Gaza as Ground Invasion Looms
To refer to the Holocaust, during which millions of Jews died in concentration camps is, in my opinion, both deplorable and chilling.
