I am flying from Bangkok to London.

The UK accepts covid antigen tests to enter the country, but does Thai Airways accept this type of test to board the plane?

Hoping to find someone that has successfully boarded a Thai Airways flight using this type of test.

...and yes, I have tried to call Thai Airways many times, no answer. I have also emailed them, no answer.

Many thanks.

The Airline does not decide which Covid 19 tests are acceptable.  The destination country does.   As far as I know Thailand will only accept PCR tests within 72 hours of departure for arrivals from outside of the country.

So as my destination country is UK, when I leave Thailand, Thai Airways should accept an antigen test because the UK accept it.

But I need to confirm.

I am going back to the USA soon and like the UK an antigen or a PCR tests are acceptable according to US TSA policy.  But the problem(s) will arise at check in at BKK airport.  Doubt an airline check in employee(I am flying with a Japanese Airline) will understand an antigen test is acceptable.  Based upon my travel experience(two long  haul international flights this year alone) the only thing an airline check-in counter employee is looking for are the terms:  "PCR" and "Not Detected" and within 72 hours.  Anything different then you might have a problem.

Therefore, I booked and paid for a PCR test at a local clinic.  This will be my 5th PCR test in 2021.

Some airlines require a covid test even if your destination country does not.  For example, Emirates will require a pcr test if you are departing from a high risk country even if your destination country has no test requirement.

You have to check both the airline and destination requirements very carefully.

Thanks for the info.

Understood on all the above.

I'll do a PCR.

Yes, best to play it safe. I returned on Thai Airways 3 weeks ago and did a  PCR test.  But do check the gov.uk website link posted above for what the certificate has to contain !

No, no, no, they don't accept, and if you booked a flight with them, and they cancel your flight for some reason....you DON'T get your money back!

Okay thanks for the info.

I have arranged for PCR tests at a hospital close to my home.

A friend flew to the UK recently and was accepted with results from this hospital, so I know at least this test will be okay
