Samui, Phangan, Koh Tao ready to reopen on July 15 - 70% of islands vaccinated

70% of new COVID-19 cases in Thailand are Delta variant – Dr. Yong

About 70% of all new COVID-19 infections in Thailand are of the Delta (Indian) variant, which is 1.4 times more transmissible than the Alpha (UK) strain, said Dr. Yong Poovorawan, chief of the Centre of Excellence in Clinical Virology of the Faculty of Medicine at Chulalongkorn University.

Fisheries Department bans 13 alien aquatic species in Thailand

Thailand’s Fisheries Department has decided to ban the breeding and farming of 13 alien aquatic species, defined as non-indigenous species introduced by human activities, which are deemed to be a threat to native aquatic species and the local ecological system.

PHUKET: Volunteers at the Phuket Stray Dog Shelter have filed an official complain to Phuket Governor Narong Woonciew after claiming their requests for help from the Phuket Provincial Livestock Office (PPLO) have been constantly ignored.

Academics stated that the Thai government does not give its citizens enough options for Corona vaccines, noting that the Thai government’s decision that the Chinese Sinovac vaccine will be the primary vaccine for Thailand, and its insistence on buying more of the Sinovac vaccine, raises questions and doubts among many about Chinese companies paying money to the Thai government to accept Sinovac as the main choice for vaccines in Thailand, although many Thais prefer European and American vaccines after confirming the weak effectiveness of Sinovac compared to other vaccines.
