Cambodia closes land border gates with Thailand and Vietnam to control COVID-19 surge

Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen has announced new measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and its new Delta variant including temporarily closing border gates to Thailand and Vietnam. In an address on July 1, Hun Sen ordered authorities to strengthen the monitoring of all arrivals into the Kingdom via land, waterways and air.

 

In addition, he told forces guarding the border to conduct rapid COVID-19 tests on all arrivals without exception, saying that testing, especially rapid tests at the border, continued to be extremely important.

 

He said relevant authorities must properly prepare locations for more quarantine centres and strengthen the supply of medical equipment in areas along the border, especially in the provinces bordering Thailand. Hun Sen asked all health officials in provinces to ensure that patients testing positive to the Delta variant are treated in separate facilities and isolated in quarantine centres for 21 days.

It's going to all collapse in on itself, I give it 10 to 20 days max. Then it's going to get ugly.

And to contrast that the Thais are wanting, or should I say expecting, tourists to come to a country where even its near neighbours understand the level of contagion that currently exists and is projected to get many times worse. I don't know who has less common sense, the Thai administration who think that foreigners are crying out to come here or the few foreigners risking their own health in wanting to visit. What a crazy world.

Not very funny that people are talking ugly and wishing the worst for Thailand in these sorts of times.

Makes me wonder why some people are even there if its so terrible.

 

Actually, with that attitude i wonder why they havent left already, considering the negativity towards Thailands ability to survive Covid.

 

So life there cant really be all that bad.

 

Some will seemingly never leave, even while they themselves are predicting Thailand will go down to the pandemic ????
