Forensic doctor says COVID death toll may be higher than reported by CCSA

A forensic doctor, at Ramathibodi Hospital of Mahidol University, has observed that the number of deaths from COVID-19, reported by the Centre for COVID-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) in its daily briefings, could be higher.

Thai doctors’ group submits petition to Parliament calling for mRNA vaccines

A group of doctors, who call themselves “Mor Mai Thon” (Doctors won’t take it anymore) submitted its petition, bearing 215,409 signatures collected on change.org, to Thailand’s House of Representatives today (Wednesday), calling for mRNA vaccines to be the main type administered in Thailand for free, as well as for transparency in the government procurement processes.

5,000 bed field hospital to be set up at Suvarnabhumi Airport

A 5,000 bed field hospital is to be set up in the compound of Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi International Airport and is expected to become operational in August. The new facility is being established to address the current hospital bed shortage, being caused by a continued surge in COVID-19 cases, according to Transport Minister Saksayam Chidchob.

Thai Government Will Adopt ’’Chulabhorn Likhit’’ as a State Standard Font

BANGKOK (NNT) - The Thai font ’’Chulabhorn Likhit’’, bestowed by Her Royal Highness Princess Chulabhorn Krom Phra Srisavangavadhana, will be adopted as one of the sets of standard fonts for use by state agencies.

Small Business Contributions to Thailand’s Gross Domestic Product are Expected to Fall

BANGKOK (NNT) - Thailand’s Office of Small and Medium Enterprises Promotion (OSMEP) expects that SMEs contributions to the country’s gross domestic product (GDP) will fall in the second quarter, because of the harsh impact of new COVID-19 infections, which began in April.

MANILA (Reuters) - The Philippines will send black boxes of a Lockheed C-130 aircraft that crashed at the weekend to the United States to seek expert help in opening and analysing them, the military chief said on Wednesday.

First tourist under ‘Phuket Sandbox’ reopening test positive for COVID-19

Thailand has recorded the first case of COVID-19 among foreign tourists entering the kingdom through the resort island of Phuket under the “Phuket Sandbox” scheme, which has been welcoming fully vaccinated and COVID-negative international arrivals without entering a quarantine since July 1st.

Non-urgent surgery at Krathum Baen district hospital on hold after medics infected with COVID-19

The Krathum Baen district hospital, in Thailand’s coastal province of Samut Sakhon, has postponed all non-urgent surgery and doctor appointments until further notice, after several medical personnel and patients were found to be infected by COVID-19.

PHUKET: Despite foreigners in Phuket reporting varied success in being vaccinated through the ongoing government mass-vaccination campaign, Pracha Asawateera, the Digital Economy Promotion Agency (DEPA) Area Manager for all of Southern Thailand, has assured that the vaccination of foreigners in Phuket is still going and will continue as long as vaccine doses continue to be supplied to the province.

COVID-19 infections in Thailand could surge to 10,000 a day next week, CCSA says

New COVID-19 infections could surge to 10,000 a day next week, almost doubling this week’s daily figures as more Delta variant cases have been found, according to the Centre for COVID-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) today (Wednesday).
