The new variant was found among seven workers who tested positive at a construction camp in the capital. https://www.nationthailand.com/in-focus/40003142 Thai construction workers infected by hybrid of Delta and Alpha variants A construction worker was found to be simultaneously infected by both the Alpha and Delta COVID-19 variants, while six others were infected with a hybrid strain of the two, according to Director-General of the Medical Sciences Department Dr. Supakit Sirilak today (Monday). Expressing shock by the finding, while reassuring the public the seven cases were not severe, Dr. Supakit said this is why it was necessary to seal worker housing facilities in and around Bangkok late last month. The cases remain, however, of concern and follow-up monitoring is needed, to prevent infections by two virus strains at the same time from spreading to the point that the combination of the strains in a single host result in a new variant. https://www.thaipbsworld.com/thai-construction-workers-infected-by-hybrid-of-delta-and-alpha-variants/ 1

There has to be some food delivery, and medical staff. So, the new variant is probably already out there.

She says people wear masks to the market and shops etc, but around the village among themselves, hardly at all. It only takes one infected person, down goes a whole village. It’s a very big province of course. I don’t know how widespread these cases might be. Positive test results yesterday in Udon Thani. Positive findings are growing rapidly. Popular Post ThailandRyan
When we left the condo for our evening run tonight in Lumpini Park the security guards reminded us to be back in before 9 pm and also reminded us that the park closed at 8. We went for a quick jog and returned through the gates just as they were preparing to lock up the park. It was fairly empty when we went and the guards also reminded us that they would be closing at 8 so not to dawdle. We arrived back home just a few ago, and found an ambulance parked out front with the PPE suited EMS personnel waiting for someone who was inside our complex. We of course walked around and in through the garage to the stairs and then the elevator. Looks like we now have another infection in the building. Waiting for the morning to see if another sign goes up by the juristic office and in the hallways on all floors. We obviously did not stick around to see if we knew the individual. Sad but it looks like we will also be curtailing our late night runs. Time to use the treadmill I bought last year during the last lockdown. Be safe folks. 2
Popular Post wensiensheng
If you have had one dose of AZ, it seems that your second dose will still be AZ. They talk in this article about shortening the time between 1st and 2nd jab by mixing sinovac and AZ. I’m not sure how they can do that when AZ is in such short supply. Perhaps the rate of 1st sinovac jabs will have to slow so as to match the AZ doses that are available https://www.channelnewsasia.com/news/asia/thailand-covid-19-combine-sinovac-astrazeneca-vaccine-immunity-15205790 2
