If your there Ubon Joe I am trying to help an 86 yr old friend get back to Thailand from NZ on a Non immigrant O 90 day.

You sent me a link which will issue him a 90 day covid cover for 90 days but the Thai embassy says he will need to have a health cover as well.

They wont accept the 90 day covid cover to enter they require both.

Do you know of ,or anyone reading this the name and link to a company that will insure this man.

I found one company only on a link sent from the Thai NZ embassy and that was for about 90,000 Thai Bhat for one year, they were the only company on the list of over 20 thai insurance companies, most have a cut off of 75 years old.

Urgent replies appreciated

Cheers

Kiwi Keith

If he is trying to apply for a non-o visa at the Thai embassy in New Zealand he will need a the 40/400k baht health insurance valid for 90 days.

To avoid needing the health insurance he could get a tourist visa for entry or enter visa exempt and then apply for a the non-o visa at immigration. He will need 800k baht in a Thai bank on the day applies or statutory declaration form the New Zealand embassy in Bangkok to confirm a income of 65k baht. Requirements are here.

Indeed Joe that is the way to go but putting 800,000 baht in any Thai bank is a very risky by an 86 years old.

I have first hand experience of trying to get money back from a Thai bank after the death of a relative.

Over 20 visits to the bank,2 courts, city hall, police station, numerous lawyers and  even took a Thai lady who claimed she had an hiso brother in Bkk.All this for 12,000 baht.I had all the required paperwork but the only possible way i could get the money back was dealing with the Thai Embassy in London, which would cost us more than the 12,000 baht. The money was pretty irrelevant but the principle was massive.

By the way,the bank that STOLE the money was Kasikorn.
