Aside from Immigration is there any others?

My Thai driving licences have passport number and various banks by now how dozens of copies, health cards dentists etc.

Minimal interaction desired at present and very rarely drive more than 800m at night to ATM so never been asked to show licence except on renewal in 20 years. Quite happy to visit bank and Drivers Office etc once pandemic over.

My lifetime DL was issued in 1970 and have never updated so probably only need to do when renew.  Banks will want current passport when you use passport for new book and perhaps if making in person exchange.

And they'll only ask you when you need to show your passport and the new one doesn't match what they have on record.

Why not tell them before waiting for them to ask you?

Sure, if you fancy a trip to the bank. Personally I avoid going unless I have to, especially at the moment.

Because they may not have a system/procedure for that?

No action required.

The driving licenses will be updated the next time you renew them.

The bank will also update the records the next time you do something at the bank counter.

If you have too much time you can of course make a separate trip to update it, but it's not necessary.

Not automatically, they won't, not every transaction at the branch requires his passport.  He needs to go to his account-opening branch and request the update.  He'll need both passports.

I can't think of anything that you could do with your bank account at a bank counter which wouldn't require a passport, but maybe there is something.... In this case the update would of course not be required.

How to update it might of course very from bank to bank, I'm with Krungsri, they can update it at any branch and the old passport is not required. I went in to get a new ATM card, they saw that my passport changed, so took a copy of it and had me sign some forms regarding this, then they continued to process the request for a new ATM card.

I just renewed my passport. So far I have updated immigration, bank accounts, drivers licence and car rego, internet account, car insurance, lease agreement. I have my mobile account and hospital on my list to do.

Maybe did not have to do all immediately but I just wanted done.

I read that someone died in a hospital and the hospital would not release the body to family because passport number had changed. Apparently took a bit to get it released,

I had to. Then the account opening branch said my local branch could have done it but they just didn't want to be bothered. TIT

Even stupid things like store loyalty cards have your passport number. If you want to redeem points, they'll insist on seeing the passport they have on record, even if it's one that was replaced long ago.

When I picked up my new passport walk round the corner going to the Metro and went into SCB and BBK Bank, as I had both passports..

As for going to the Bank Branch I open the account with, never since about 2001 [20 years ago]

only problem never thought about - never carry my Passport always use my driver's licence as i.d  in a Bank  = not same Passport Number !

If you have a medical provider, then report the change to them, otherwise a lot of time may get wasted if/when you need their services.

You are right. I have health insurance with AIA and they sent me a form to fill out and return. A current passport number is necessary in order to make use of the policy.

I would say that your banks are the first ones you need to notify.

After that it is up to you.

When you do, prepare for a LOOOOONG process. It took SCB Pattaya about two hours to complete all the paperwork. I have several friends who have said the same. Bring a good book.

Big C Extra Pattaya Klang changed my passport number with NO hassle. The gal at the the claims desk took the info, sent an OTP to my mobile and changed it instantly.

Everywhere your passport (number) has been used for identification, even including any loyalty cards, as you might not be able to claim points or benefits without identification, and if it's not the same passport number, you are not identified.

Having your entry and extension of stay moved to your news passport, the rubber stamps on first page in your new passport will show your old passport number, which might be handy, if there's a place, or are places, where you have forgot to change your passport number...????

It looks like you received a lot of good advice from everyone here. To me the key place that I had to update with my new passport was the Bank. I a, glad I brought my old passport with me, as they wanted to see it too. It took less than 5 minutes to update at the bank. As they made some passport copies and I signed one paper and that was it. So you do not need to make a special trip, just do it when you have to go to the bank next, just remember to bring your old passport, too. Also a main point I forgot to bring up, it is best to go the the bank branch where you opened your account. If you go to a different bank branch, they will do the paperwork and then send it to you bank branch where you opened your account. As with any other place, I would do it only when you have to visit the place. E, do it even with your driver's licenses, do it at renewal. So over a year period I updated my passports at all the places. Of course, it is up to you on how you want to handle it.
