Thailand currently ranks 107th among the world's nations for vaccinating its people and valued guests against COVID-19.  Only 5% of Thai people have been fully vaccinated. Tonga. India. Russia. Azerbaijan...have done better. Fiji, Cuba. Slovenia, Timor-Leste. Equatorial Guinea has done a better job.

Talking about 'current facts'. On a GDP per capita basis Thailand ranks at 102, so not far off the NYT covid ranking. The vaccination drive should be much better, undoubtedly. as is the case for many countries, but on a GDP basis........

Interestingly, your mention (in italics) of Equatorial Guinea seems to suggest you are surprised by their higher ranking. Yet, due to the oil industry, their GDP per capita is actually higher than that of Thailand, and ranks at 97. Yes, their rulers are despotic and the wealth disparities are huge but, measured on a GDP basis, the current position should be no surprise.

Your point is taken. But the leaders of the Thai government made deliberate decisions many, many months ago that proved to be tragically WRONG. NOT because, as they are saying now, the problem was "unforeseen." It was not for a lack of money, nor for a lack of vaccine. There is something very surprising, and TERRIBLY wrong, when the 24th largest industrialized economy in the world and the 8th largest in all of Asia fails to take the OBVIOUS steps necessary to protect its citizens. And instead of correcting their errors, they are now compounding them with ludicrous talk of reopening the country. This is, and always has been, about MONEY, and GREED, and POWER. And there is BLOOD on their hands.
