Officials at the EOC field hospital in Buriram went to the Muang district police after eight people were allegedly caught drinking alcohol on CCTV in a loading area outside the facility.

Pol Lt-Col Chaiya Sarasom took the complaint and the drinkers who have since been transferred to another facility were contacted on the telephone.

Naew Na said that four admitted wrongdoing and four deny it.

Once released from quarantine they face prosecution for breaking the field hospital rules that could see them jailed for six months and/or fined 10,000 baht.

Even more serious penalties await if they are charged with violating the mergency decree that has penalties of 2 years in jail and 40,000 baht fines.
