Popular Post webfact
The government is poised to declare one of its most controversial decrees under emergency law – one that would hand legal immunity to both COVID-19 health workers and those in charge of vaccine procurement. While Public Health Minister Anutin Charnvirakul insists this so-called “amnesty decree” is designed to boost morale of health personnel working in the frontline, critics are not convinced. What is the amnesty decree? Drafted by the Public Health Ministry, the proposed law is officially titled the “Emergency Decree on Limited Liability of Healthcare Workers in COVID-19 Treatments”. The draft decree emerged in response to a resolution passed by the ministry’s Emergency Operation Centre for COVID-19 Situation on July 27. Popular Post Geoffggi
Don't really have a problem with the health workers, but the likes of Anutin should definitely not fall under this umbrella IMO

Legal immunity to health workers fair enough but no reason those in charge of vaccine procurement should be given legal immunity although I suspect we all know the reason for it. It's increasingly looking like a mob will end up doing the job of the courts.

Popular Post mtls2005
Why do health-care workers need immunity? What for? Have they knowingly done something negligent? I jus assume they've done their jobs properly, adhering to standard treatment protocols. Hence, no need for protection? What am I missing? The 'health-care worker' seems like a smoke-screen to justify the broader immunity for the regime? We need to see the actual decree, but it has a very foul odor from where I sit. It feels like there is a strong paper-trail indicating malfeasance within the regime regarding vaccine procurement. And is "Corruption" associated with anything COVID related also deemed to be "immune"? Gotta love these clowns; no shame whatsoever bending the "legal" system to their will, as if none of the populace knows what is going on. This one will explode in their faces. 3
Scrotobike
I understand that the health care workers need this legal protection as civil litigation can be a difficult and expensive process for a defendant in Thailand. The other lot are added to this necessary piece of legislation Normally to stop this added nonsense an MP would table an amendment, but as this is a decree and not a law then this route may not available as parliament may not debate it - not really sure what a decree in Thai law is.... Then who knows.....
ikke1959
I agree but NOT for the ones in charge.. Anutin and his cronies should be prosecuted and NO immunity
newnative
Well, this is simple. If it is truly just for health care workers scratch everyone else out. End of controversy.

IAMHERE
Would this law protect those , if there are any, that expected major drug vaccine companies provide brown envelopes and got refused causing a delay in any vaccines at all? Just in case that something like that actually maybe could have happened?

Tropicalevo
It seems that the Thai government is now bringing their amnesty in via the back door. Two articles in The Thai Enquirer are noted as stating that the government will change existing legislation rather than going for new legislation. 'the government has snuck through the amnesty act by amending an old law.' 'the government’s attempts to sneak in an amnesty clause into existing law and that the government’s moves show they know they are ultimately responsible for the country’s disastrous Covid-19 response.'

This 100%. If people here believe the the bs that this is anything to do with protecting front line medical staff and not the head security guard and his 2 Bob cabinet then they need to wake up.
