Popular Post webfact
By Suchanee Rungmueanporn BANGKOK (NNT) - Thailand’s private sector is proposing a "Bangkok Sandbox" model, hoping for the re-opening of businesses, but with customers limited to vaccinated people. According to Sanan Angubolkul, president of the Thai Chamber of Commerce, the private sector has proposed three measures to reopen businesses, including standards such as SHA+ (SHA PLUS), promoting businesses following guidelines for Coronavirus protection and a 70% vaccination rate among staff. The Sha Plus model is currently being used in the Phuket Sandbox project. The Second proposal is to use a Digital Health Pass for clients who are vaccinated; using the Public Health Ministry’s database; and accepting clients who can show the results of an ATK test, so that those who can do so, feel free to use the services of those businesses The proposed "Digital Health Pass" can be used with vaccinated people whose details are recorded in the "Doctor Ready" or "Moh Prom" application, which applies to those who registered themselves for jabs provided by government. The third proposal is to begin a pilot project in certain retail businesses which declare themselves ready for the re-opening, and are capable of strictly following the measures. As for the industrial sector, the "Factory Sandbox" model is already in use to isolate infected workers, and vaccinate them to increase confidence in the export sector. Vaccinated is great, but I think the lack of foreign super spreaders in Phuket is even more due to the rigorous testing. Before the incoming flight, upon arrival before leaving the room, a week later, before leaving the Sandbox, then finally before hopping on any flights, including back home. "Vaccinated" is mostly to protect the tourists from the locals... Who haven't been vaccinated or tested. I think such rigorous testing (and other requirements) may put off a high percentage of tourists, but let them decide if it's worth it. If they're just talking about a domestic sandbox, I have mixed opinions. They'll booger it up with lack of testing and moving migrant workers around to keep from having to pay decent wages. Just like they're boogering up Phuket, totally unrelated to foreign cases. Edited August 25, 2021 by impulse 2

Popular Post ezzra
Come off it guys, all this Sandbox thingy is a big farce, i have just completed one in Phuket, and there is no way you can control the coming and going of sandbox people in Bkk, you want tourists? only fully vaccinated one with a 72 hours PCR test prior to boarding and hope and pray that all will be well, all the rest are just silly games and huge load of work on Thai embassies and consulates around the world as well as the would be tourists...

Mickeymaus
Perhaps the easiest would be a Thailand sandbox model... Will be interesting to watch what will happen if Covid is ignored more and more. But Covids days are over. The main season is coming and also the 120 days grace period is over pretty soon. Hopefully it understands this.

Discounting of course domestic travel into Bangkok, will they have road blocks on every point of entry?
BangkokReady
So basically reopping shops but only vaccinated people will be allowed in and the staff will be vaccinated. Hardly a sandbox.

A big spanner has just gone into the works in the form of fake covid vaccination certs which are being sold on the dark web in Europe . Also in the UK the government are reviewing contracts with 85 companies who are providing pcr covid testing for 72 hour pre-flight travellers . Apparently many are not conforming within the guidelines . Also the suppliers of the fake certs are even managing to get you into the computerised registered NHS system . So where will this end up ? Maybe drop the proof of vaccinations and take our chances knowing that we have some protection if vaccinated and sod the circumstances for the unvaccinated ? Or maybe there could be blood test checks by way of a finger <deleted> as per diabetes test ?
MrJ2U
I think the private sector has already paid of some people to open up next week. At least partially with plans to increase it incrementally. Edited August 26, 2021 by MrJ2U

khunPer
It's hard to visualize how Bangkok, Pattaya, Hua Hin, and other mainland areas can be "sandbox"-isolated like an island, without making a hard border around the places, and a hard border might be quite impossible to establish. The cost of a 4th wave of Covid-19 compared to waiting the two, or three, more month until the whole nation reach herd immunity - other articles today repeats the availability of 100 million doses vaccine before year end, and it's a fact that vaccination protects people and limits spread of infection - I my opinion it might be both a more economoc safe solution, and eventual prevent deaths, to just wait a few more months. I don't have the impression that foreign tourists at the moment are queue up outside Thailand to get in, when looking at facts from Phuket's sandbox. But that's just an opinion...????
