New information I have been seeing is that the Above 60 and elderly crowd were left in the dust for the vaccines and a very large percentage were and are still being unvaccinated.  This is a whole country problem and not just the dark red provinces they are so ingrained to blame.

Note that most over 70 in Thailand are afraid of the vaccine and really don't want to get vaccinated, especially upcountry. Many of the elgerly who go / are taken there have simply given in to pretty tough persuation by relatives

Covid-19: Singapore residents who took Sinovac turn to Pfizer to up their antibody counts, amid debate on booster shots

Even after receiving her second dose of the Sinovac vaccine last month, Soh, a 43-year-old Singaporean, was unsure about her immunity levels. So she went to get an antibody test – and the result took her by surprise.

Her antibody count stood at 140, a figure her doctor said was about 10 times lower than what someone would have after two Pfizer-BioNTech doses, which along with Moderna shots are provided free to residents of the island nation above the age of 12.

Dr Leong Hoe Nam, an infectious diseases specialist at Rophi Clinic, one of 31 private clinics allowed to administer Sinovac jabs, said there had been an increasing number of patients who found there was inadequate protection from the Chinese-made vaccine.

That is one scary proposition

No official record, just that I've been here for 30 years. I hear the same story from all Thai's I know.

Ok, I've been here half that figure and not heard it aside from a few who were hesitant to take Sinovac.

Haven't been following as much recently. What's the consensus on the decrease in cases?  A true reason for optimism, solely because of fewer tests, or a little bit of both?

When the number of deaths go up but the number of cases go down, I strongly suspect fewer tests are being given to entice tourists. My opinion.

???? Statistics of proactive COVID-19 screening by ATK and RT-PCR methods in Bangkok area classified by district group

???? Data during 26 Jul. - 30 Aug. '64

???? There is a total of all those who are examined.

???? ATK type = 148,879 cases

????️ found = 28,025 cases

????️ No infection = 120,854 cases

???? RT-PCR type = 55,809 cases

????️ found = 33,668 cases

????️ No infection = 21,199 cases

Data from the Office of Public Health Coroner as of 30 Aug.

Another take away from these numbers is that only a Total of 204,688 tests of either PCR or ATK were conducted over a 5 Day period in BKK.

That is an average of 40,937 tests per Day average.

That, by any stretch of the imagination, is not a good number of tests for a population the size of BKK

0.97% overall death rate is good in comparison to the US with around 1.65%.

Wonder what it looks like if you break it down in age groups.

The good overall death rate look wrong - what factors make it so low apart from not testing all the dead for Covid. So comparing is a bit useless.

Also (in the UK maybe in the USA) the death rate from covid is verified by looking at the pre-covid death rate. Not reported here (I am sure it is compared) - it would likely show how pants on fire their claim to be "better than others" is.

825,410 Inoculations yesterday. + 2, 7772 booster shots.

393,633 for the first shot

431,777 for the second shot

And an additional 2, 772 for a third booster shot

By any standards that is an impressive Inoculation performance for a single Day.

I suppose it makes the figure look so much better for the loosening of some lockdown measures toady.

Finally it looks like progress. The only black cloud is the figures include the CCP <deleted>. I wonder how many non CCP <deleted> jabs there are?

Still CCP <deleted> is better than nothing - if that is the choice facing Thailand.

July 26 - August 30 is 35 days, not 5 days.

Not applicable to Thailand as such because of the vaccine rollout status is Thailand but I would advise everyone to watch Dr John Campbells latest youtube video were he goes over the latest assessment from various studies and expert reviews of where this is at and where we are headed with this pandemic, a massive seachange is on the way in the west for countries that have an effective vaccine deployment with focus now turning away from mass testing - they now believe that everyone will get this virus vaccinated or not. I think I am right in saying that for vaccinated people this is now no worse than seasonal flu and that seems to be how it will be treated going forward...............................watch the video

Thailand and other countries that have not deployed effective vaccines are not there yet so does not apply to them

Phuket Welcomes Thai Tourists on Sept 8

BANGKOK, Sept 1 (TNA) – Phuket will welcome Thai tourists from Sept 8 onwards and those who will stay longer than a week must be tested for COVID-19 there.

Phuket governor Narong Woonciew signed an order to add Thai tourists to Phuket’s list of people allowed to pay visits. Local tourists raised the groups of welcomed people to 16 and can arrive in Phuket from Sept 8 onwards.

Thai tourists must show the evidence of their accommodation reservation and payment for the accommodation. The Thai tourists who plan to stay in Phuket for more than seven days must be tested for COVID-19 on day 5 after their arrival and pay for the test.

So if I read your comment correctly, what you're saying is 'who needs grandpa and grandma'?

I might add that the data ends March 2021, which is before Delta really took hold. The official stats will come out later, but the average age of death in the US seems to have dropped significantly, as Delta is taking young people, too, some before they even get a chance to be 'Dad', not even 'grandpa'.

0 sources for your claim.

Look at this CDC data set and you will see the past few months compared to 2020 is identical for those under 50.  Elderly now have a higher chance of survival.  Learn to post facts from data, not hearsay.  Making dramatic emotional statements is pathetic.

Okay, I think I understand it now.

the official testing period was July 26 to August 30. But they only tested during 5 days in August.

Just 6.7% of over 60's have been vaccinated.

In short then, by largely avoiding the most vulnerable people the vaccine rollout thus far has been a miserable, pointless failure!

The exercise was not  a miserable, pointless failure.

I think its fairly safe to assume that many of the Vaccines destined for the Elderly and the Infirmed, were sidetracked into BKK and the highly successful Dirtbox Scheme.

Lockdowns and reduced testing I expect. I am having a change of heart, this Delta virus cannot be beaten, we all need to catch it and are ultimately destined to do so..... we just need to have been vaccinated first.

yes that is now what experts are saying, you watched John Campbell's video I assume, they now believe everyone will get infected with this virus just need to make sure everyone is vaccinated
