The Pheu Thai Party will ask the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) to investigate the government’s purchase of Sinovac vaccines, a senior Pheu Thai MP told Thai Enquirer on Thursday.

The party said this week during censure debates that the Government Pharmaceutical Organization (GPO)’s explanations for alleged irregularities within the purchasing process for the Sinovac vaccines were insufficient.

“The GPO answer was unclear because in a normal procurement process, there has to be a contract, a purchasing price, the amount of the product that is going to be purchase, the delivering date and there are accountability terms of fail or shortage in delivery,” Prasert Jantararuangtong, Pheu Thai’s secretary-general told Thai Enquirer.

And no wrongdoing will be found.

The irregularity is that the government actually purchased Sinovac, and continue purchasing it despite their own acknowledgement that it has a low efficacy!

“What I am surprised about this purchase is that the actual price that we bought was around US$9 dollars but the budget that the cabinet approved was not $9 dollars, why did they approve it at $17 dollars?,” he asked.

“They cannot answer our questions.”

watches?

no surprise really, everyone knows that there is always a big commision on anything the govt buys or contracts for/out, it used to be around 30% but wouldnt be surprised if it is now higher with this lot. Probably be a lot of cake boxes being distributed to the right people to ensure there is no graft found in any of the  purchases made or fault with buying chinese vaccines

They did what they grew up in, the only way here: corruption.

If I read, and understood, a report on this subject in a Newspaper out of BKK, the purchases were not a true G to G contract, where a Government purchases the agreed item for and Agreed price Etc.

Apparently ( If the report is correct ) an Agent was used who was close to both the Chinese and Thai Governments for the procurement, and the difference in the costs was quoted as their " Expenses Etc " in brokering the deal.

How else would they steal $8?

The CP/CCP influence is very strong

No contract?  Here is why China is basically giving it away free so countries like Thailand can try it out on their people like test subjects but the government leaders are saying they purchased it get it where this is going?????

Dated but interesting article about the varying prices for Sinovac (CoronaVac), from $5. to $38.

https://newsinfo.inquirer.net/1384867/sinovac-jabs-varying-prices-raise-alarm

Funny part:

“The difference in prices of Sinovac vaccine at $5, $14 and $38 reminds me of an old story about how corruption is committed in three Southeast Asian countries—UNDER the table, ON the table, and INCLUDING the table,” he said in a post on Twitter.

Pot meet kettle.

Of course, but as usual, they have to make it seem as if something is going to be done about it.

At least until enough time has passed for the subject to be long forgotten.

“The GPO answer was unclear because in a normal procurement process, there has to be a contract, a purchasing price, the amount of the product to be purchased…“.

For the millionth time, as long as there are brown envelopes, “you don’t need no stinking contracts!!”
