Antibody levels, generated by two jabs of Sinovac vaccine and a booster shot of AstraZeneca, is relatively lower than two Sinovac jabs and a booster of Pfizer vaccine, but the immunity generated after the Sinovac-Pfizer regimen drops faster, according to research jointly conducted by Thailand’s National Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (Biotec) and Thammasat University.

 

Dr. Anan Jongkaewwattana, virologist and head of the Animal Health Innovation Research Division of Biotec, said on his Facebook page on Sunday that researchers conducted research on two groups of frontline medical personnel. One group received two Sinovac jabs and a third AstraZeneca jab and the other received third Pfizer jab, to assess the immune response after inoculation.

 

He disclosed that the results show that those inoculated with the third Pfizer jab have developed an antibody level of 3,500, compared to 1,500 in the other group.

Mix them - administer them - any messed up combination, reduced dose administered against the manufacturors recomendations and unapproved 

 

 

Seems a bit of a click bait headline or released before fully researched.

 

The actual story appears to be S,S + AZ holds a 1500 level a month later whilst the S,S + Pf drops from from 3500 to 2800 antibody level.

 

Maybe they should look at the results in months to come rather than basing a somewhat disaster headline on a month ? 

 

If they show that in 4 months the Pf combination has gone below the AZ level it would be a story. Could be every chance the Pf hold a level above the AZ later, but they are not waiting long enough to find out

There have been too many such headlines lately..... I really wish the ‘chaff would get filtered out’ but I’ve been told off for being critical of the news team and their selection of news with such headlines before..... 

 

It would be good if there were some caveat employed whereby ‘headlines’ could be intelligently handled to avoid the clickbaitey nature while relaying the info......   but then I probably wouldn’t open it !!! ????

2. Will there now be a push for a fourth jab, from those who got the less effective third jab?

Nothing is better than Sinovac an Thai made Astra the study shows.....Of course who could expect something else?? You have to believe that Government is and was always right... But reality???

When are they going to mix 3 or 4 different vaccines? Consult with a bartender?

Would have been interesting to see what the levels would have been if the booster was another Sinovac.

So essentially the Pfizer combo still offers almost twice the protection as the AZ combo even with the faster drop. We need to see what happens in subsequent months to make any meaningful conclusion.

The effort is in finding how to better protect those that are already vaccinated.

Ok but 1500 is enough to stop you getting ill with the Delta variant so no issues. Irrelevant article.

 

I wonder how long until immunity in Thailand will be on par with countries who didn't use Sinovac?  With the original delay then the insistence on gambling on Sinovac, Thailand must be at least a year behind other countries.

Both Moderna and Pfizer recommend Intermuscular vaccination. Why doesn’t Thailand follow the established guidelines?

• Visually inspect each dose in the dosing syringe prior to administration. The diluted vaccine will be an off-white suspension.

• If the visual inspection fails, do not administer the vaccine.

As i have had two az jabs ,what would be the best booster shot i wonder.

Sino(whatever) is rubbish the Vax is of no use to man nor beast. Trying to make a pigs ear from a silk purse. Just re-vax with something useful. But this is the big T.

 

didn't see anything on the size of these groups in the "study". That's an important piece of information

AZ seems to be the best at preventing hospitalizations and deaths.

 

Pfizer is great for quick, effective results.

 

They are both good.  Any differences are marginal.

Pfizer or Moderna as a booster likely after 7-12 months.  Research is ongoing.

 

Another AZ may also be perfectly good.

 

Both may have new formulations soon.

Seems to be following the research in the UK. Pfizer loses its fizz quicker than AZ.  And it's expected that both will converge at around 50%.

 

Important to note that both vaccines are still effective at preventing serious illness.

Not sure what an expert would say, but I read a comment where someone suggested getting J&J if you had AZ as they're both inactivated virus or something.

 

I guess if you wanted to avoid mRNA for any reason, it might be a good idea.
