When did you get your STV?

Did you need to submit a background check?

If so, what did you use to satisfy this requirement? 

I was surprised a background check was required for an STV but I see that it is one of the requirements on https://thaiembdc.org/2020/12/10/stv/.  I received a visa based on retirement in 2020 and a background check was a requirement. I just did google searches for Texas background checks and found www.identogo.com.  I made an appointment went in and got my fingerprints taken. It took about 2 weeks and It cost a little over $25.

Not being American I was surprised reading a report somewhere (not sure if on this site) that a guy got his via the FBI and it was accepted. Read it a while back and I think it was in relation to O-A. Looks like $18 https://www.fbi.gov/services/cjis/identity-history-summary-checks and you can pop into a post office for fingerprints.
