Thailand’s Medical Association strongly opposes DES Minister’s idea to legalize e-cigarettes

Even CDC acknowledge that vaping is less dangerous compared to normal cigarettes, so a step in the right direction would be to ban all regular cigarettes and replace them with e cigs instead....

Off course it would be better to prevent all kind of deadly activities like smoking, vaping, drinking etc, but that's never going to happen so might as well find the best middle way.

We known for decades how deadly cigarettes are for smokers and the surrounding people and yet, those that are supposed to do something about it, tries to prevent a better alternative on the market.

Meanwhile people continue to die of cancer from smoking.

I hope they sleep good at night....

Personally, I hope they keep the ban in place, nothing to do with if they are more healthy than smoking cigarettes but I find the e-smoking devices more obnoxious that cigarette smoke, I am an ex-smoker myself but I would much rather sit next to someone smoking a cigarette than someone smoking one of these e-devices, the amount of smoke they put into the air is terrible they are definitely more anti-social.

So - internationally, medical experts warn of the danger of smoking .
these same experts warn of the risk of Covid 19

One problem is either ignored or used to create revenue.    The other causes immense turmoil around the globe ????

go figure!!

IMO, just keep the ban, if the concern is public health, it will be harder to restore it, if was once removed.

It's a lot harder to un-ban something once it's been banned than it is to just allow it in the first place without any specific legislation.

For a government to specifically give the OK to something that's once been banned by a previous government (regardless of which party is in charge) I believe it opens them up to liabilities.

It's all about tax money.

If it's only tax money, they can tax the e-cigarettes and It will increase revenues. I think there is an oppositions from the cigarettes manufacturers and they have not yet figured out how to make money from e-cigarettes. Just like in Las Vegas there is a opposition from casino industry to open sit-in marijuana smoking places because they have not figured out how to make money from those places yet.

Maybe if more tobacco manufactures expanded their production towards vaping to create a more controlled product,

then it would be easier to both tax and control that production.

As it is now the vaping market is a lottery and you risk buying some liquid/flavour where you can't trust the labelling.

Some products claim not to contain nicotine but after testing shows it do, some have higher or lower concentrations of nicotine,

which in worst case could lead to poisoning and so on.
